I have 40 acres with 6 horses. I use it for moving hay bales, moving snow with the bucket and snowblower, garden tilling, and road maintenance. The New Holland TC40D HST works fine but it has no cab and I wanted more HP. I will be picking up the new DK50SE HST Cab on Friday. I will be selling the other one. I'm tired of the cold, it was -15 static temp on Monday with wind chills in the -40's. I'm looking forward to the new tractor and heat! A great Valentines gift from my wife! Of course she can use it.

Congratulations! Since your jumping strait into very cold weather, I'll let you in on a observation I've made on my DK45.
If you start it in very cold weather and turn the temp up to hot, turn the fan to high and walk away for 20 minutes the gauge will barely come off cold.
If you leave the heater temp on cold, the temp gauge will come up between the dots (normal operating temp) in ten to 15 minutes minutes or so, you can get some heat in the motor that way.
When I start using the tractor (I just have a sweatshirt on) I bring the temp up gradually on the heater control so as not to blast the ice cold glass with very hot air and fog it out bad. I also run the A/C at the same time to pull the moisture off.
After you start running the heat, it takes about 15 minutes or so for the glass to normalize and stay fog free.
You'll figure it all out, your gonna love it, I wind up having to turn the temp and fan way down, ..It gets to hot!:laughing:
Check your loader frame bolts often.

Thank you. I was not a big fan of the fuel tank being on top of the hood to fill it, but the more I have thought about it, is a good idea because it is better protected and the heat from the engine will help keep the diesel liquid. I will try to post a few pictures when I can.

Dont forget the wheel bolts too. Check often the first 100 hours. Then maybe every 100. It takes a while for them and the loader bolts to settle in..

Re the fuel fill, I find I can lift the 5 gal can up to sit on the loader arm and it just tips into a funnel just right!

After blowing the dust off the hood, I put down a soft terry cloth towel, then lift the fuel can to the loader arm, then re-grip it to tip it on its side on the towel on the hood with the nozzle pointing into the filler opening. The cans are the yellow plastic ones with the lever valve. I actuate the lever valve and let it glug out. This way I do not have to hold the can as all of its weight is on the towel on the hood. I just have to hold the valve open and that is not too hard.
When the fuel gets below the neck of the nozzle, I tip up the can which weights about a pound by then and let the remainder drain out.

Sounds like the 50 will be perfect for you. I am really really impressed with how mine runs a snowblower. I use it for blowing back banks from plow trucks and it has done very good. I have a 7' wide twin auger blower with a 27" fan, I can go through a foot of fresh snow in medium at max speed with no issue. If you use your loader a lot [and you will] check the mount bolts at 5-10 hours then every 25 or so after. Once mine got to 100 hours they stayed tight with the exception of 1 or 2. The tires I have never had a issue with. The pin retainer bolts will loosen all the time on the loader, [I have lost 1 or 2] but it is not a big deal because they also have a retaining clip. So check them also. The heater and AC work very well, it was 21 below zero here awhile ago and I was warm without a coat with the fan on 3. No the tractor will not build heat at idle at cold temps, most diesels won't. HAVE YOUR DEALER INSTALL A BLOCK HEATER! They start very good without them but instant heat and a quick start are worth it in my book. Get some Lucas hydraulic oil treatment, it helps with the notchy shifting between ranges. Also have them load the rear tires, the loader is almost useless without counter weight. I have loaded tires and a 1000lb box blade and it will still lift the back tires off with the curl function so just a FYI. I would buy this unit again without reservation. CJ
