My first "dirt-working" implement. Super excited. Still a little hesitant about getting the roll over versus a traditional box blade, but went ahead and pulled the trigger.

Pretty sure that you will like it. Can't remember anyone that has had one say that they were not happy with it. IMO the only units that are better are the commercial-industrial units and I'm not sure that they are really all that much better.

Let us know how you like it after you have used it a bit.

Here are 2 of mine, an 81" & 65" Gannon

MtnView....I've seen your pictures before of your land and road working. That "dirt" that you work sure looks easy to spread....just sayin'. Some TBN members in the NE USA deal with a lot of rocks etc. Kansas isn't so bad, but those NE people have a whole different situation I would imagine. Well, we just have to deal with what we got. PumpinPete ought to have some what easier time of it.

I "second" the comments of MtnViewRanch.

Here are a few photos of my 60" Bush Hog (brand) Rollover Box Blade, pulling dirt, ripping out vine roots, pushing dirt and just out for a ride.

For my uses, I am happy with my Land Pride HR3584, but can see where people would like a rollover box scraper. If I ever come across a really good used one, I'll probably buy it for one of our open station tractors.

I understand that everyone has there own conditions to work with. So are you saying that people that don't have good grading conditions should use something else other than the std type grading implements??? :confused3: There are locations here in California that are nothing but clay and round rocks that vary in size from 2"-12". And I'm talking about 50% rocks with 50% clay. An absolute nightmare to work with IMO, but people do it everyday without anything special. I personally would not own such a piece of ground, but that is just me. ;)

Glad to hear all of the positive comments. It was too cheap to pass up ($650) and I knew I wouldn not be able to find a regular box blade that weighs as much for that price. For the soil comments, we have a lot of rock and clay around here. Don't have to go down to far to find it either.

I guess I should have said my patience was running thin trying to find one!

There are hard to come by. I looked for 2 years.

No, I think you did good.

I'm like TripleR. We both have Land Pride HR3584s. Hydraulic lift scarifiers. I'd buy a used Roll-over if the price was right.

The only gain I see from TripleR and my perspective is you can push a box full of dirt backwards. That would be handy in a lot of situations.

Jeff, great pictures. I've never been around a Roll-over. I learned a lot from your pics. Thanks for posting those. Pictures say a thousand words!!!

Richard, your type BBs are obviously better, about every professional gave up on the roll overs once your style with the hydraulic rippers became available. Just need to remember that the ROBBs were what was used commercially into the 80s. As far as for home owner use, pull the lever and you have all of your rippers ready for use in just a few seconds vs stopping, no hydraulics needed. Also with a ROBB, most of the time you set your top link and you are done, no reason to constantly be adjusting the top link like on a std BB.

So what it comes down to is that with no hydraulics available for aux hydraulics, the ROBBs are by far easier to use and get a pretty good out come. They are relatively heavy duty, not so much compared to industrial-commercially used units with hydraulic actuated rippers, (about 20-25% less in weight) but compared to most of the std type BBs with the single adjust rippers. They are strong enough to hold up to a 12,000lb tractor using them without damage.

My opinion is that for Johnny home owner that has more than a little grading to do and does not have or want to pay for rear hydraulics, that the ROBB is a better choice.

Just my :2cents: ;)

Brain, great description of the differences. You know me,,,, I'm all about hydraulics. If I found a ROBB, I'd convert the manual handle to hydraulics and trip it with the flick of a small lever!!!! :D

Nah, Mtn View....I was just envious of your particular soil for working. .... as well as hydraulic operated attachments on the best of equipment.

Land Pride actually offered that exact thing as an option for their ROBB. As I get older, I'm thinking that that is just what I need to do. While the lever is easy to reach and operate on the smaller tractor, not so much on the bigger one. :( It's not like I'm short on rear remotes, and if I was, more can be added. ;)

I take that as a compliment, thank you very much. ;)

Me too. I've got gummy clay and I dream of being able to spread sandy loam around. But I shouldn't gripe. Clay is easier to work than rocks, so I've got it easier than some of you guys.
