Need rear tine tiller recommendation

Several yr ago (about 10-12), I bought a craftsman ($500.00) (made by roper ?)counter rotating rear tine tiller with a 5 HP B&S engine. Use it every yr.. It's still going strong

That is about right. I got mine for less but I looked for a long time.

The problem is I will have a permanent fence around my garden and I want a walk behind tiller so I can also cultivate between garden crop rows. If all I was going to need was a garden spot tilled up I would pay somebody to till it once a year. Thanks for your suggestion though.

What about paying for the main tilling each year then getting something like a mantis for the cultivating throughout the season. I think it would be much easier to maneuver through rows.

I hate to go above you budget, but you can get the small bcs for a little under 2k.

Again sorry for being over budget, but this is all I have experience with.

I know it is above your budget but I don't think you would regret getting a BCS. If you ever decide down the track you want another implement then you have that option too. There is a couple of used ones on earth tools website for 750-850 bucks.

If you're close enough, I have a 1978 Horse 7hp. It was my Dad's that he bought new. A few years back I put 650$ labor and parts into it.

New tines, a bearing, fixed leak on gear box, carb rebuilt, new head & gasket and others, don't remember. I haven't used it since the repairs.
