Just curious. What kind of reaction are the birds and animals of the region showing?:)
I hope they aren't having an End of the World Party.

Harry Turtledove is a sci-fi write of alternative history (his civil war-ww2 series is great) has written about this. He paints a great picture of the ash, destruction of livestock, and how communities change.

Hey, any of you ever been to Yellowstone? We went a few years ago. Something amazing yet completely disconcerting about the ground being on fire below your feet! Makes you think about how small we are in the big picture. :cool2:

We spent 3 nights in a Yellowstone campground; September 3, 4, & 5, 1991. Some may remember the huge forest fire they had in 1988, and the results were still terrible looking in 1991.

Also, if you look it up you will see that it is producing at least a 1000 times more Helium 4 than ever before in recorded history. I live in Northwest Iowa and right outside my town in an exposed sedimentary layer on a hillside lies exposed a 5 foot layer of volcanic ash that the Yellowstone volcano deposited 640,000 years ago that helped bring about the extinction of dinosaurs in western Nebraska. That is a quantifiable fact and no bull. So I can allow myself to be slightly concerned when the geologists in Yellowstone using their differential gps devices say the mantle has begun pushing up, it is real.
