Wow--I think you did GREAT!

And it's making me RE-think what I was about to buy, this Friday--a 2008 L3400HST with BH75 hoe and LA463 FEL, with sub-200 hours on it, for like $22,000.

I think you did great!

One other thing: I'm not familiar with the "BL4690B backoe". Who makes that and what size is it?

One thing--do you have the "slip-and-slide" seat (possibly with no armrests) that many folks hate? (I think it was in the pre-2007 models, but that is just a GUESS). It has a sloping angle, and none of the molded-in "sweat/rain channels" that the later seats have.

The (fairly-severely) sloping angle apparently makes it difficult to stay in place on. I ask because even though the 2008 I am looking at does not have the seat, the seat it does have looks "sacked," and I want to get a new seat. I wondered if you'd priced that out, or if any other members have? If it's like the $400.+ price I've been told, I'd consider going to a used air-ride seat, IF you can fab up any adapters you need--or buy them from 4shorts, our Newfoundland (?) Kubota-fabrication-guru. Just curious.

But overall, your deal sounds better than most!

My Hoe, I'll jump in, in case the original poster doesn't get back for awhile. He mentions in an earlier post that the 4690 hoe is a 3 pt model. The BH75 is a subframe model. The subframe model will be sturdier, should have higher specs, and will cost more. For reference for the machine you're looking at, I bought my 3400 in August of 2012 with under 220 hours on it. It came with the BH75 plus a 60" King Kutter tiller. I drove 3 hours to pick it up and got it for 18k. I found it on ebay and felt that I got a good deal. There are times that I wish I had more lifting capacity with the fel (can't budge a 5 ft round hay bale) but it does 99 percent of what I need it to.

AraronS,

Wow! Very helpful info, in a very short time--thank you!

One question: what year was your tractor put into service? (Because, as you know, there are not "model years" for Kubotas--they go by the year of the first sale).

And thank you for clarifying about the OP's backhoe being a TPH model--that helps me in my decision-making process. I too willl be driving 3 hours to view it, but I'm "fresh out" of pickup truck, and don't yet have a trailer (although a generous TBN's has offered me the use of their trailer). I think I can get cheap transport out of this dealer, however.

Thank again, for your immediate response! :)

My L3400 is a 2008 model. It runs great, even after laying down to take a nap.

Did you check the torque of those pesky loader frame and back-hoe subframe bolts while you had easy access to them?:D

it would be a good time to grease that backside front axle pivot too!:D

Where were these kinds of deals when I was looking for a tractor. I looked at a couple similar units at the same price, all had over 3300 hrs!

Thanks again for all the encouraging feedback. I haven't taken delivery yet, should pick it up this Saturday. I would have preferred the sub frame mounted backhoe, but since I'm not planning on using the hoe on a daily basis, I'm hoping the 3pt model will suit me.

I've been looking for over a year now, and as soon as I saw this unit for sale, I jumped on it. I anticipate that it will do pretty much everything my 464 IH utility tractor does, I am a little concerned that the 3400 may not be as stable on a couple of the banks I mow. May have to come up with an alternate plan, don't want to post any pictures of my tractor "napping"!

James, I will be sure to look at those bolts and the grease fitting, thanks for the tip.

My Hoe, I found this unit on machinerytrader.com. A very good resource. And I think my 3400 does have the "slip & slide" seat you spoke of, may have to use the seatbelt!
