Pressure wash everything before proceeding. or you will spend extra hours trying to keep mud out of exposed parts like bearings, you've been warned.
We just replaced one ripped boot on our Sportsman 500. It was not a Polaris part but not sure what brand, no box when I saw it. Worked great.
Found out if you are careful you can unlock the little bands and re-use. Play with one until you get the feel for pushing on a little tab to free the band.
Bands just add to the expensive.
When removing the drive shafts we found lots of rust on the splines at both ends, so anti-seize was liberally applied after cleaning all parts.
We pulled all shafts and cleaned and anti-seized both ends.
Don't hit the boots with parts cleaner fluid as this makes the rubber distort permanently. One did, we still used it anyway, it was on the good end of the drive shaft that we replaced the boot. Mechanic got some cleaning fluid on it and we didn't notice until we got it home. Hours of use later and no problems. Looks like h**l.
Grease came with the boot kit and each CV joint comes apart with a sharp tap with a hammer and punch.
Drive shafts removed by a quick/strong/tug to dislodge it from the center hubs.
Fun eh!!!
