How do you like Mahindra Max 25?

I bought my Max 22 TLB last fall, found the tractor to be strong and stable. Both the FEL and backhoe exceeded expectation, the rated capacity seems conservative. Good on fuel and quiet as you don't have the throttle pinned to have your hydraulics functional. Looked at the Kubota, BX25D was the same price but it's a considerably smaller unit. The green dealer was priced to high to fit the budget. I like mine and haven't had any problems. Hope this was helpful, cut your best deal!

Come on up to the 28XL... Love it! Can't wait to get crazy with this backhoe!

Max 25 owner here. Picked her up back in fall dressed with a FEL, MMM and a handful of 3pt attachments.

At first, when I got it home I kinda felt like "WTF did i buy, i'll never use this thing". But since then it's proved to be worth its weight in gold. Strong, simple, smooth.... it's never scoffed at anything i've tossed at it.

Currently I have mine in for warranty repair (hyrolic linkage... details http://http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/mahindra-owning-operating/301644-cannot-articulate-bucket-while-float.html) Having been gone for only a few days, I'm already finding myself missing it. Three times this weekend I started a sentence with "Well, if we had the tractor....."

One thing to keep in mind, a tractor is only as good as your dealer support. Make sure whatever color/brand you buy you have a dealer close by that knows what's up and is willing to help.

Best of luck!

I have about 70 hours on my Max25 with FEL, MMM and backhoe. The FEL sort of sucks for pulling long railroad tie fence posts. Mostly weight torgue issues. The BH does it fine though.

The mowing of 4 acres with a crappy MTD 38" took about a day. I'm getting much more done, quicker, with the 60" MMM in about four-five hours. (And that is with stops to load/unload adult beverages. :drink: )

The serious one to consider if you haven't bought yet is to add the backhoe. The cost to buy later is expensive where you can finance it in the original purchase. Most other 3PH attachments can be found later at various prices, or even rented to do specialized work. Plus I'm the envy of my neighbors who don't have one.

The BH has allowed me to pull fence posts, dig burn pits, dig out tree stumps. dig out rocks, and makes it easy to break up piles of dirt on my property to move them.

The original post is getting old, but for the benefit of others I'll add my thoughts; Bought a Max25 last summer, FEL, MMM and BH. Right off the bat, the crankcase dipstick wasn't properly seated and before I figured out what was going on, it blew a pint or more of oil all over the mower deck and front end. A real simple dealer faux pas, no real harm done. Went to work with a roll of paper towels and I was back in the saddle. Issue no.2; She no start. There are several kill switches that are meant to prevent accidents and it took a while to isolate the culprit. The switch in the seat which is supposed to detect arse pressure was a little stubborn and, being new to this sort of thing, left me scratching my head. When I had that figured out, the dealer gave me a jumper, about a 6" piece of wire with male connectors, to bypass the switch. You would think this might be a liability issue for the dealer, intentionally bypassing a safety feature but, it worked and I'm happy. That said, this little machine has impressed me. Many of the components are heavier and more robust than the competition and power is not lacking. I've moved earth, snow, rocks and stumps without any further issues and the mower deck, although not the easiest thing to mount/dismount, contains more steel than most small rider-mowers. I turned some pasture into lawn and struck a couple of rocks (YOUCH!) with no visible damage. The blades and shafts are very heavy duty. Years ago I hit a small root on a Sears rider-mower and bent a shaft. That thing was a real POS, but I digest. Using the FEL, I regularly push snow for about 40 ft up a small incline while exiting the barn, with stock, unloaded turf tires. The extra weight is a plus. The hoe is downright snappy at 2000 rpm or so. Would running it higher be better for the engine and pump? Someone help me out here, like I said, I'm new at this. I wasn't impressed by the dealer's lack of knowledge on these particular machines, I did my own research and knew more than he did but, he's been supportive and other than the aforementioned issues, my experience with him has been minimal. He does have full time mechanics and a seemingly well stocked shop and I hope he's going to be around a while. That's about all I can think of at the moment. If I run into any future problems, I'll no doubt air them out here.

Welcome KB1JIM. Try running you back hoe at lower RPM and see if you like the results. Mine certainly works better at lower RPM without the snappiness you refer to.

Thanks for the tip. Can you tell me, does the rpm of the engine/pump effect the power of the hoe, or just the speed?

I'm usually running in the 15-17K range for the BH and have never had an issue. Same with most of my FEL work as well.

The MMM needs the 2K for the center PTO to work right.

I don't believe there is any significant power loss at lower RPM. However you should be able to determine this for yourself, as you dig around your place. This is from my backhoe manual: The speed at which the backhoe operates is partially depenedent on engine RPM. Use a moderate engine speed to start and increase it as your experience permits. When powering from tractor systems with higher output, reduce engine RPM to obtain acceptable backhoe operating speed.
