Buying Advice Massey gc1715 or 1526

Radrock, its in V8 at idle but that flapper is dependant on exhaust flow to open, its not electronic just a tension spring, as you accelerate and more exhaust flows it opens. I had my truck idling and it was shut, i manually opened it and vvvrrrooommmm it sounded like a normal truck. I mean all the crap on these things now, i want a truck not a honda. So I clamped it open so its wide open all the time. If you tap where the spring is it will clatter like a cowbell, when mine would go in V4 and it closed it would flutter and sound like the rearend was going to fall out. When I took it to the dealer i removed the clamp and evidently stretched the spring enough that it quit rattling but as soon as i got home i clamped it back open. Mine has manual seats. Ive had 4 loaner trucks, all 2014 chevy or gmc 1500's and none of them made the noises or had issues mine did.

Well that's to bad it has given you trouble. Mine is quiet as can be. I do have a little wind noise but I blame it on the window vent shades I put on. Nothing bad though. I don't think you can hardly keep a truck sounding like a truck anymore. Like you said all of the crap on them...

I considered it but I figured it would sound like an elephant fart when the truck went into V4 mode so I didnt put it on.

Hi William. Have talked to you in a long time. Well you'll have to pardon my ignorance as I don't even know what that is. You must be thinking about buying one huh?

OK. I looked it up, now I know... Yeah I'm like thunder. The darn thing would probably would like a kitten haha. I don't have a problem with it just being quiet. It runs good and can't tell when it's in V4 mode. Spent too much money on it anyway...

I sat in a new 2014 a few weeks back, got a price on an sle with the nice cloth bench/buckets, 6 1/2 box, crew cab , 4wd just like mine, $47,000! Gonna hold off a bit.

Has that flap in the tail pipe given you any issues?

I haven't had any problem with mine other than having to do the software updates. I've had the truck since August and has about 7500 miles. They are expensive. I've dealt with the same people for 27 years and I think they give me a good deal. I have a SLT that is loaded.

nice looking tractor KYThunder. Did you buy at Jim's Farm Equipment in Gallipolis, OH? Looks like their building. We have bought one there and I've been there several times looking at a GC. I ended up purchasing a BX25D. I really wanted a Massey, because that is what we have always had. But I just kept comparing to the BX and in the end, I got the deal that I didn't want to pass up.
