I'm asking this since I really would like/need Grapple ability of my JD 1025r. It is a FILB with the 260 backhoe. What I want to know is if I can remove the hoe and use that hydraulic line to power a grapple cylinder up at the loader. Seems logical since it operates several cylinders and valves on the hoe. If so how do I do that? Am I oversimplifying this or missing something entirely? Look forward to your responses. Thanks

Have you seen the bolt on kit that Artillian sells? It's a diverter setup but it's all plug and play and can be used while the hoe is mounted.

No, that line is a power beyond line and has no control, fluid flows through the line if the tractor is running. Now you can install a manual control valve that would allow you to control a hydraulic feature, but then you need to mount a valve some place. Kenny's suggestion is probably the best for controlling anything out on the loader though.

I have. I am interested, Would love to just order it but I must say after having just purchased the tractor was looking for maybe a bit less expensive alternative for now. I would build the bucket thumb just need to add the cylinder and find out if I could power it from the hoe. I'd drop the hoe and hang some counterweight from the 3 point for grapple work. What I don't know is if I could use that as a hydraulic "power supply" for a valve and a cylinder up front. I realize it would mean hoses long enough to reach up there? Just thinking out loud here.

You guys are quick , thanks that's the kind of stuff I need to know. Thought I might be oversimplifying this. But isn't there "flow thru everything when the tractor is running. It is just running in circles so to speak until you move the valves be it for drive or loader or hoe ?? As far as a diverter valve , how does that work. Forgive my ignorance here but trying to figure this out.

OH OK !
So for the Artillian diverter kit you get everything you need and then add a cylinder and go! Thanks that makes more sense than what I was thinking

With how you worded your question, to me it sounded as if you wanted to hook up the power beyond lines to the grapple cylinder. Maybe it was just me and how I understood what you had asked. (sorry):sorry: Anyway, you do understand the power beyond system, so yes add a manual valve and you can control an aux cylinder. Problem is that it is going to be close in cost to the diverter kit and a lot more work by the time you build a nice mount for the manual valve.

The diverter valve plumbs in with the curl circuit. Easy to install and really the best way to go to get your 3rd function for the loader IMO.  You just push a button and move the loader valve left or right to control the grapple. Take your finger off of the button and you are back to controlling the curl of your loader. ;)

yep you're right. that is what I was thinking, and again your right, by the time I do all that and have a mess of hose and additional valve I may as well buy the electro diverter setup and be done with it. I guess I just needed to hear it. Thanks ,sometimes I just need to say stuff out load in order to hear it thru all the crazy ideas rolling around in my head.

That kit is really a great price when you add up all the parts from different sources, and add in the fact that all the engineering is already done for you.

yep , can't disagree with that. I will be adding that to my list of things I "need" now for the tractor.
