Do you use home heating or pump at the diesel

I've got access to a 260 gal Home Heating Oil tank....when I had my New Holland I always bough off road diesel and would burn through that tank fast.

Now though...I am wondering if even a 55 gal drum would be too large of a tank for me?

Running a CS2410...any ideas what I can expect to burn in fuel oil in a season? Should I look for a 55 gal drum?

Except that a 200 litre drum only holds 44 gallons so wait until they become common in Canada!!

I do not know about current expressions, but when I farmed in Ayustralia they had been metric for quite a few years, and their "45s" as they called the old drums, had been mainly replaced by 200L drums and were known as "44s".

So far this year, I've gone through 18 gals. of ORF, not sure where the store up the road gets it, but the gas pumps says Sunoco, and so far I've no problem with freezing fuel lines or water that I know of, and here in Maine where I live, it's been below 0 several times. I plug in my block heater for about an hour, and the tractor starts right up just like summer time, I plug it in every time it's 20 degrees or colder for at least 1 hr. I never drain my tank since I had my tractor, 6 years now, I don't eve know if I have a water separator, but I change the fuel filter when I change oil, maybe I have water in my fuel and don't know it, or maybe that fuel additive works.
I have went threw 100 gal.of Off Road diesel so far this season.I had my outside 150 gal. tank topped of yesterday $3.81 per gal.Last summer it was $2.31 a gal.SIGH,

OK, so off to look for a plastic 45gal drum now.
I can get it topped off when they fill up my heating oil too as long as I have the right fill and vent valve on it. :D

What the heck! 100,gals!, it's only March, that would last me all year, and I use my tractor just about every weekend. What are you doing with your tractor, you must change your oil every 2 month's, and did you mean $3.31 last year?, I paid $3.85 last year.

I'd like to have a small oil drum rather than a big one, I have set up high so I can have the fuel gravity feed. With a big drum, I have use a credit card to pay for it, but I wonder how big it has to be to have a oil company deliver ORF. I've been using 3, 6 gallon containers, and my shoulder starting to hurt lifting a 6 gallon can up 4' on the hood so I can pour it in. I look at some DC fuel pumps, but they start at $150.00, and I'm not sure how long they would last, or even if they work good.
