New Money Pit-MF TO 35

Hi all, I finally got a money pit and looking for some direction. I have been looking for a small tractor to do light work and be my hobby. I bought this little jewel
a 1955 Massey Ferguson TO35 today for my new toy. Tractor runs good, everything works as I think it should except the hydraulic lift. It will lift the shredder, but as soon as you touch the clutch, it drops. I can lift/ lower as I am driving the tractor, but as soon as I touch the clutch, it drops. I thought it had a 2 stage clutch? Tomorrow I am changing fluids. is the tranny oil part of the hydraulic system? From what I have read so far it takes 8 gallons of 80 weight? Is that right?
Is there a Massey club in US? All I have found so far is in the UK. I would like to restore this one and go to shows. Seems like a better hobby than golf.

Most likely the seals in the lift cylinder are shot. Maye you don't have the deluxe model with the two stage clutch.When you step on the clutch you disconnect the pto driven pump from the engine the leaky cylinder has no more pump flow to hold the lift cylinder in place so the lift drops. If you have the two stage clutch and you press the clutch fully to the floor, you disconnect the pto and the same thing happens. If you press the clutch part way down to shift gears the pto should remain running and the lift should stay up.
Pull the right side access cover, put the lift lever up, start the engine (UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES PLACE YOUR HAND IN THE HYDRAULIC COMPARTMENT WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING!) and look toward the seat. If there is a lot of dripping coming from the lift cylinder, you've found the problem. The lift cover must come off to remove the piston and replace the rings.

I would first get the instruction books from Massey Ferguson.
They give specs and maintenance.

Second, yes, the Transmission and Rear Hydraulics use the same oil.

Have you checked the oil for
1) quality, to see if water is in there?
2) quantity, to see if you are low on oil?
