I don't know why some folks have to justify things so much...You only live once, then your dead for a looooong time.

If it makes you happy, and makes your life easier working around home, and you can afford it.......what the heck?

If you get one it won't take your wife long to see that this is different than your cub cadet, that does what? drag a garden cart around?

You will use it for everything...Shovels are for cleaning out your bucket...

So a few days ago, I tell her im going to place the order and she goes "okay well how much is it..." and thats when it went down hill...
apparently her thought was that it was like our previous tractor $2k.

And you actually told her what it cost????? I saw where another poster once said, "When I am gone I hope my wife doesn't sell the tractor for what I said I paid for it."!!!!!!!!

Aaah, the subterfuges we engage in to get along with the better half. Let them know upfront that you DON'T know the exact price but you can't reasonably complete a project they want done without tool X. Be thrifty in buying tools. After you get a track record of tools and completed jobs it becomes easier. Renting and showing proficiency in using a tool often leads to purchase if there is a continued need.

In all fairness, I have about 110 acres so it's easier to justify big $$ toys. Having said that, my wife is the one who pushes me to buy good equipment - to spend more up front, rather than get something less than I need or want. She almost had a bulldozer on the place but it was ME that just couldn't get around the price tag. Gotta love her

Mine is the same, she's alway's said, If you want it,, get it.
I'm just waiting for when it's her turn.

Whenever I ask my wife about buying something, she says " you always get whatever you want anyway so why are you asking me for". So I usually just show here what I bought when I got to pick it up.

Unfortunately, you will never convince this type of wife. You can only "rub-her-nose-in-it" after the tractor is purchased and your wife concedes that the menial labor and upkeep of the property is so much easier than it was before.

My wife had used my little STX38 to mow our hill and knew how precarious it was with the bagger attached. I found my BX on eBay and got it for about 3-4 thousand less than at a dealer.
I got laid off last summer and with 2 kids in college, I knew the investment in it could be recouped if things didn't work out. After having it for 3 years, I had gotten the bigger projects done and offered to sell it. She could see the value of it and wouldn't let me even think about it again. The labor savings is just so well worth it. I also have 2 acres and I love the size of the BX for it.
