Inflating tractor tire with water ballast

Even with the correct amount of fluid in the tire, the fluyid will try to escape from the valve since there is air pressure inside there to force it out. that is normal. just do as stated above and apply the air pressure until you reach the correct level you are wanting. You do need the correct pressure gauge that is designed for liquid filled tires though.

I have Rim Guard in my rears. I will get a small amount of the Rim Guard(beet juice) blowing out unless I do this. 1) valve stem to top dead center 2) blow air into the tire - this will clear the RG out of the valve stem 3) use tire gauge to check pressure 4) adjust to what you want. Believe me - Rim Guard is a much bigger mess than any type of water based tire filler. Using this technique I will loose less that 2-3 drops/rear tire.

you don't clasify rimguard as water based?

One question I would have is the tractor sitting on a level surface.? If not the fluid could easily be tilted over the valve stem.. I usually shoot a little air in first before I try to check the pressure to clear the stem, and then you can gauge the pressure with a standard gauge, providing that the tire was not filled too full to begin with. But in any case if it looks low, NOW is the time to put some air in before the bead comes loose from low pressure and dumps your load of fluid. A lot of folks dont bother with a gauge anyway, they just add air until the tires tread touches all the way across. But before I started to let fluid out, I would add air if I felt the tires were low to mitigate the risk of bead breaking. Of course buying a gauge designed for liquid is an excellent idea.

Actually we all know rim guard is water based, at least I'm fairly sure it is and its sure sweet. Had to taste it - came out of the valve stem and looked just like blood. No, the way I worded my response is a little wishy/washy. Should have been - than any OTHER type of water based -. Anyhow - you have a good day and don't let anything grind on you.
