Is the cab as quiet as what I am hearing? Have heard several comments that this truck is the quietest vehicle they ever drove.

I must made the deal yesterday for a 2014 Z71 Silverado. My 2011 F150 lease was set to expire in April so I had to make a decision whether to buy it, lease another F150 or another truck. In 43,000 miles the only issue I had with the truck, which has the ecoboost engine, was a battery failure the first week I owned it. However, the last few months the truck had developed a series of "rattles and squeaks" that was driving me crazy. Of course, the bumper to bumper warranty had expired and would cost $110 per hour at the ford dealership to try to find the source of the problem. What was disappointing was the fact that the 2004 F150 FX4 that I traded on the 2011 was whisper quiet with 106,000 miles on it. I was quite impressed with the fit and finish of the 2004, not so impressed with the 5.4 triton however. What was extremely disappointing was the response from the local dealer about the rattling and squeaking issue. The response was "well, it is a truck, so most people must put up with a few rattles". If this was a 1966 International pickup like my grandfather had, for which he paid $1800 new, then maybe a few squeaks can be expected. But when you fork over nearly $40,000 you should expect a little better product.

But in 2011 when I drove the new truck with the Ecoboost engine I was shocked. I could not believe the low end power of that engine. Sure, I'm one who thinks Ford might over sell the gas mileage achievements of this engine but the power and smooth operation is so impressive. I will miss that engine in the new Chevrolet.

The 2014 Silverado in my view is quite impressive. Now, in the next 43,000 miles that could change and I will be back in 3 years complaining about the rattles and squeaks in the Chevrolet. But for now I am giving GM a chance to show that they can build a quality truck.

Yes it is very quiet. I'll be honest though, quietness of a vehicle has never been near the top of my "must haves" when it comes to a vehicle. I mean it's not something that is going to sell me on a vehicle. I understand it's important to a lot of people though. GM cut no corners in this truck that I can tell.

Thanks! I looked at the F-150's very hard, but didn't test drive any Ecoboost equipped trucks. I had my eye on the FX4 package with the 5.0. Friend of mine has that exact setup and it's a great truck! My problem is the 3 closest Ford dealers are just flat out terrible. I try and try to buy trucks from them but it just has never happened. Either they act shady during dealings, or something. They're just so high pressure and I always feel like they're trying to pull one over on me. The ironic thing is they all have a very high rate of turnover when it comes to salesman. The guy you deal with today won't be there in a year or 2. It's not Ford's fault though, the trucks are fine, it's just that the dealers have cost them a sale. This is like the 3rd time they've done this. I always end up sitting at my friends desk who works at a GM dealership, and of course he gives me the most smoking deal you could possibly get, doesn't try to sell me a lot of crap or tack on extra fees and is always throwing in extras like 5 free oil changes, free steps (if you want them), $100 coupon on a Line-x bedliner, stuff like that . To be honest, the deal takes about 15 mins, we spend the rest of the time talking about sports, women, or something like that. The Dodge dealership is even worse then the Ford dealerships. Some shady characters working at that place, not to mention the dealership looks like a dump and dirty. I could drive an hour to another Ford or Dodge dealership I guess but I would hate going out of my way for warranty work if I needed it.

Around here the Toyota dealership is the worst in my eyes but they still sell tons. Dodge is the second worst. I have had the best experience with Nissan then BMW.

I had a great experience with the BMW dealership when I was car shopping for my mother last year. Very laid back feeling, while at the same time being very professional and up front. I'd never owned a BMW before and they didn't try to take advantage of that. They knew the product inside and out and could answer any questions you had.

Yea. Back in 08 when we bought our Nissan Titan I sent the little lady to test all 5. She said both the GM and Dodge dealers new nothing about the product line. I went into the dealer a day later and asked the tow rating of both. The GM guy looked at the hitch markings and said that number. The Dodge guy looked at the door sticker GVWR rating and said that number. I was done with both. The Ford guys knew the most but the Toyota and Nissan guys were well versed also. I ended up with a Nissan from a lady sales person who knew more about trucks then the local GM and Dodge guys combined.

My friend who's the only person I'll deal with if I buy a GM truck knows the trucks inside and out too. He spent 20 mins just explaining and showing what all MyLink can do. He's the exception to the rule though because most car salesman have no clue. I don't really listen to the salesman when they're talking to me while I'm looking at the truck as I already know what I'm looking for before i step on the lot. My issue with Ford was the rebates were great but most of it was eaten away by all the crap fees they added back on in the end. I told them I was only paying tax, tag and title nothing else. They wouldn't budge and neither would I. I'm not paying your dealership fees and stuff you added on the truck that I don't even want to begin with. That's your problem not mine, don't add it on next time unless someone asks for it.

I just bought a 2013 Ford Edge Sport for the wife 5 weeks ago. Super easy. It was a left over and through a Internet search there were only 8 within 250 miles of our home. One was only 3 miles from my house at a dealer and did not have the sync system. Went and test drove it and offered him 10% less than list. He said no and I got up and walked out. Was at the dealer about 1 hour total.

I called another dealer who was 57 miles away, gave him my number which was 12.5% less than his list. This one had the sync system and was my second color choice. He called back 30 minutes later and said ok. Put a $250 deposit over the phone via credit card and left for my bank. They emailed me a invoice so I could check it over. Very basic. Agreed price, title fee of $30, tax of 7%, and of course it was minus my $250 deposit.

Left the bank with a cashiers check and told the dealer I would be there in 2 hours. Have it gassed, clean, and paper work ready. Well pulled on the lot and left 40 minutes later with the little lady following me home in her new ride.

This is how easy most of the Ford dealerships are around here.

Nice car! I looked online and went at night to look at the trucks on the lot. I found a couple of trucks I was interested in at 2 of the Ford dealers. The third one I contacted seemed really pushy on the phone. Wouldn't really give me a price or anything and when I offered a price he just said "come in and see what we can do". Didn't seem too promising to me. Drove 3 different F-150's and a 6.2 XL F-250(mainly wanted to see what the 6.2 felt like in them before I searched for what I wanted). Told the guy "let's go inside and run some numbers on these two (both were FX4 5.0). He put the numbers in front of me and I said "looks good but can you do any better?". Of course he had to go talk to whoever and I sat there waiting about 30 mins. He knocked off $500 on the price and said that I was going to have to pay for some paint protection and interior protection that they added on the truck. I told him nope, either take it off the price of the truck or add it to the trade-in, either way my price is my price. Wouldn't do it.

I left and went to the GM place only expecting just to test drive a few 2014's so I could see what they were like. My friend tossed me the keys, I'd test drive it by myself for as long as I wanted, come back, get another set of keys and do it all over again. Told him to find me a white one with the Z71, crew cab, all-star package, cloth seats, and some other options. He looked on the computer and found 3 trucks exactly like I wanted. Then he explained that it was going to be $1,400 more because they were post-price hike trucks but he had a black one with everything I wanted and it was $1,400 less because it was built before GM upped the prices. I learned to love black really quick, especially for a $1400 price difference. He gave me more then I wanted for my Tacoma, gave me a truck off their used lot to drive home and said he'd get my truck all washed up, prepped and ready and deliver it to my farm the next morning and pickup the truck he loaned me.

If the Ford dealers would have been willing to work with me at all I'd be driving a new F-150 right now, but it's just never been my luck when dealing with them even though I keep going back hoping my luck will change. It's ok though because I really like this 2014 Z71 and think it'll be a good one for me for years to come.
