I'd solder and cover with shrink tubing.

For waterproof higher current connections you could look at well pump wire splice kits ...

You can make your own by gooping up the soldered wire connection with silicone caulk, then slipping on the shrink tubing. Once it is shrunk and the caulk sets, it is water tight.

i was once working in the ceiling of an auditorium, and there were removeable mechanical lamp fixtures we were servicing. .. they are suposed to have twist lock 3-4 prong plugs. we hit a whole row that some joker scotch locked it.

totally stopped production as we had to get power killed to remove tese darn cords that were hardwired right into the junction boxes!!!
