I'm a little behind on this since leaving Ft. Wayne, but you can get a new GMC Denali w a 2 speed T-case w auto select instead of the AWD system that has always been offered on the Denali. GM has so many option groups it's hard for me to keep up with all the changes. Just thought I'd share.

I remember a few years ago you could get a F150 13,000 different ways. I am sure GM and the others are just as bad. You would think if they cut that in half they could increase profits. Well I guess only if all did it. Does seem crazy though.

So, I have to wonder what is behind this kind of marketing? Giving a potential customer MORE choices rather than "that's what you gotta take" seems contrary to GM policy. Maybe they are worried about the introduction of the all-new aluminum body F-150 being introduced this fall?? My brother was here yesterday with his new 2014 F-150 and we were talking about the 2015 model...he said he didn't know about the plan to switch to aluminum bodies and he was glad he purchased his with the conventional steel body.

I just got my 2014 towing guide book I use in my trailer business. By far ram is the most confusing when it comes to tow ratings taking up twice as many pages as GM or Ford. This seems odd to me because there are fewer engine choices so one would think it would be the simplest behind Nissan and Toyota.

I wouldn't mind having a T-Case option, but to be honest, I'm far happier with the AWD in my Denali than I thought I would be..Goes fantastic in the snow and puts the power down to the point that it feels much stronger than my 2011 6.2 non-Denali with selectable T-case...I like choices, but I'm good where I stand.

I could not live without low range. For a SUV or a AWD car non selectable transfer cases are ok but not a truck. Heck, I have two transfer cases stacked in my tractor. Low range on the front one and low range on the rear one and it's unstoppable. 60 feet a hour in 4th gear wide open. Perfect for trenching.

I haven't needed or used low range in over 15 years..The trucks I have can do whatever I need in standard 4wd...I don't use them as tractors...Pulled trees, cars , trucks, whatever in high range with no problems...Not taking a $50k truck into the mud bogs anyway.

One of the lakes i use has a steep nasty boat ramp. Low range is sure nice for that, but maybe not necessary.

Easier on the torque converter for sure.

I guess we use our trucks different. I use 4 low as much as 4 high. Heck, some of the things we do 4 low is not enough and a second truck is needed.

I use my trucks for all kinds of things, just haven't used low-lock since my '70's 4x4's...Not even sure why I used it with them..I put hot motors in all of them..Ah the late 80's and early 90's before marriage.

I'm not pulling semi's with my trucks, never have...They do everything I need in high range, always have.
