Amazon Superwinch or Harbor Freight ????

Any thoughts on what is the better choice or walk aweigh from both. And buy name brand ?

I have had a super winch in the past and never had any issues, kind of liked my WARN a bit better but the super winch never let me down!

I bought the HF 2000 lb winch to lift my plow. The winch works really well. The solenoids were junk. One of them failed after five hours of use. Bought a contactor off amazon for 23 dollars and it has been flawless. The larger HF winches have a mounting plate available. I had to make one to mount the rollers on for the 2000 lb. I paid 55 for the winch.

I just bought the Superwinch UT3000 myself. I liked that it has a metal differential planetary gear train like the bigger winches do instead of permanent magnetic. That was a main selling point for me. I just installed it a week or so ago so I can't comment of longevity but it seems great so far.

I had 3 bad superwinches in a row, I bought off amazon. 4th one hasn't really been used so I can't comment. First 3 were sent back after issues with the first uses.

Wow. Not such great news on the Superwinches. What models did you have that were bad so quickly?

If you want to pull 6000lbs. Use a 12000lb winch.

I think General Lee just answered my question, go name brand. I just wonder how does Amazon get 80 + positive reviews on Superwinch ?????

Yeah I wonder that about Amazons reviews too. I'm curious to know which model General Lee had. Hope it's not the one I pulled the trigger on :thumbsup:
