Parting out a Yanmar 1300 tiller. I am removing the tines and their bolts, and I have the short PTO shaft. What else is worth salvaging? Any value in the U joint and the carriage for the depth adjustment wheels? (I don't have the wheels) This is the gear driven model. The gear housing is shot but the idler gears are available. What doesn't get saved is going to the scrap yard, so I don't want to waste anything somebody might need.

What is the end to end length of the drive shaft? What would you be asking for it? Are the joints any good?

I have not measured that and haven't taken it apart that far. To be sure we are on the same page, to me that means the shaft that runs horizontally above the carriage that contains the shaft with the tines. It did not occur to me that anyone would want that. My plan is to list a classified ad once I have the parts all pulled but I don't want anything to go to waste. Also would like to get some of my money back since this was a stupid purchase on my part- darn thing was busted when I bought it but I didn't realize the extent of the damage. Everything will be reasonably priced, I assure you. I assume I can look at a diagram of this model and make sure we are talking about the same part. My property is not in the state where I live so I only get to work on it a few times a month so I need to make each visit count or these chores take forever.

The 1300 RS would be 1300 cm wide which is about 52 inches...so now I am thinking I got the model wrong cause it's about a 6 footer! Sounds more like an 1800, doesn't it? I took pictures but at the moment I can't find the darn camera- having 2 places 225 miles apart can drive you nuts! I'll get more pix this weekend to clear everything up.

Sorry I meant the PTO drive shaft! The one between the Tractor and the Tiller!

Wouldn't you know it? That's one thing I did not take any pictures of, and unfortunately I just got back from my place. I don't have internet access there. Anyway, the PTO shaft is something like 2 feet, but I can measure it next weekend, and take a picture. I put it in the shed, down in the food plot, whereas the tiller is sitting in my driveway (my wife is very proud). I got a few more tines off it this weekend but suddenly the shaft wants to turn when I try to break out the nuts, so it's actually harder now, just when I got the hang of it. I need to bind it down some way so I can get the rest of them off, and move on. Soon as I get them all off, and the U-joint, I'll post an ad.

PTO shaft is home now. Didn't measure but it's less than 2 feet unless you add the 2nd U joint, which I also have. No time to post a picture now- gotta go back the property and spread lime. No internet access there, so I'll check when I get back. I wanted to give bkstmm first crack at it, then it goes to an ad. I will try to post a picture Sunday PM but the thing looks like you would expect. Splines are good.

I don't seem to be able to post an ad- can't see the link for a new thread anywhere on the page. What I am trying to do is recover a little of the cost of the tiller I had to scrap. No way I can break even, so I'm not interested in wringing every cent out of the price. The going rate will be fine- whatever I can get. I have the shaft with both U joints and about a dozen tines. The tines are in the condition they were in when I took them off. They include a couple of the shorter end tines and the original nuts & bolts. I really don't have time to brush them or paint them, and I'd just have to raise the price anyway. I still intend to post an ad if I can figure out how but I only have so much time to devote to it.
