Tractor
Yanmar 3110D
Never purchased a new tractor. I purchased a Yanmar 3110D, used, about 3 years ago. That was my first tractor. I now need a bigger tractor. I have 40+ acres and need a tractor that won't work itself to death. Bush hogging a large chunk of that 40+ acres really wears out that little tractor......and me too, so I've decided to go with something bigger and meaner. I considered a 50hp Kubota, but decided that I might as well get something that will really handle anything I'll put it through. I checked at the Great Plains Kubota dealership in Ada, Oklahoma and found the M7040SU to be just about what I need. They priced it at $33,524.00. My questions are........Is this the MSRP that they quoted me, or the bottom line price. How much "wiggle room" is there? I think my bush hog is rated at 50hp PTO. This has 62hp @ the PTO. I just purchased this bush hog. It's never been used. It's a Woods BB60. That sucker was dang expensive! Please tell me I can still use it if I'm careful.....

Will the bb60 even cut the tire tracks out if used behind a 7040su?

If you are spending that much money just go ahead a get a bigger mower too. You'll never notice the difference each month when you write the check.

Is the BB60 a 60" wide model? If it's never been used I'd see if the dealer you bought it from will let you return it for a larger model. You will want one that covers your tracks and if your going to go with a 7040 get a mower that will use some of that power.

Does the one you are looking at have a loader? I found a 2013 for $22,900. Without knowing how your tractor its set up, its difficult for anyone to give a price comparison. I can tell you what a friend sales person told me and that is a 25% differential between cost and list.

If you go on Kubota.com they have a price your build section that will give you the MSRP of anything you are looking at. Most people say about 15% off MSRP is normal but the rebates and such can get you a little bit extra off depending on the current offers.
Good luck on your search!

Yes it does have a loader. What I like is the quick connect/release setup. That old Yanmar I have.....well my feet don't even fit well on that think! It ain't like I wear a size 13 boot! I wear 10.5's and I can't even swing my feet around without getting them hung up! That tractor was built for orientals of small stature!

I got a Rino 72" bush hog when I bought my M7040 so it was as wide as the tire tracks. It's rated to 100 horsepower and looks really heavy duty. A couple of dealers wanted to sell me a wider unit, but with the amount of trees I have to mow around the narrower one works out better for me. Good luck in your search.
