Hi...I have a 25hp tractor that will not charge

I had issues with wires going to fuse box overheating and think i know which wire is the issue

If that wire is not the issue can I bypass the red wire on alternator and connect to positive of battery?

Only got 300 hours on tractor so i think the alternator is ok all lights work but get weak after 1 hour

Big snow storm outside can't work on it till tomorrow, hoping to get ideas before trouble shooting

Yes but If its going through a fuse I'd recommend putting a fuse in line. You don't have any blown fuses? Sounds suspicious but then again it's a Chinese design.

I think electrons work better for charging batteries than fotons (photons) unless your using a solar panel. :)

I replaced the fuse box because it melted, and everything looks fine.

The big red wire going to fuse box was badly reconnected because I had no welding wire and only black tapped it, maybe thats part of my problem, If not I might bypass the red wire, I did that on a Atv once and had no issues with charging for years

Wires on this tractor are to small,, I might have to lower the wattage of my bulbs

If i bypass the alternator red wire to battery, I will be straining the fuse box alot less right?

On the Atv I used the red wire coming out of volt regulator, The red wire on alternator is the same thing right?

Does the alternator wire in the fuse box go to a fuse or does it get directly tied to the battery in the box? I'm trying to figure out if that's the reason your wires are melting or if it's a different circuit. Fuses should blow before stuff melts. are all the fuses the stock size?

I think you should be able to directly wire it to the battery. Cars often use a fuse able link going to the alternator in case it overloads

I'm not 100% sure but I think the battery only has 2 big wires and the alternator goes threw the harness

Just went outside to look and the positive on battery only has 1 big red wire, no small red wire connected to it

Update, red wire at fuse box was issue, welded it but don't want to run lights without fixing it better

Weird alternator on this thing, has 3 wires on separate posts, 1, 12 grade wire and 2, 14 grade wires

So bigger wire goes to battery to bypass?

I'm not at all familiar with that particular charging system, but: on most Chinese tractors, the alternator output is only a nominal 14 amps so your 12 gauge wire is fine. The two other 14 gauge wires would be: sense circuit if red, field circuit if white, and ground if black. Trace these wires out, you don't want to fry anything else.
