good ideas on the credit cards guys. My primary card is with my main bank, Wells Fargo, who I don't like, wachovia who they bought out I thought was much better.
But they never ask us, the customer... So, everything is on line, and I can pay off the balance any time just by transferring funds. I can also check out my statement every few days and make sure wrong stuff is not on there. And I always do call before I travel. Had the cc dance once in the islands and after that, I always call.

with an 80 gallon tank, there is no possibility I would refuel twice in one day. I'm not driving that far each day. Even at say 8mpg on 60 gal usable, that's two days driving for me.

my friend who just traveled the same route says regular gas in some Western states is only 85 octane, and mid level is 87. What's with that? And why?

They are at a higher altitude, so lower octane fuel gives the same results as higher octane fuel down lower.

thanks Aaron. Unfortunately I think min 87 octane is in the warranty provisions, though it isn't on the cap.
I'm sure they reduce the price dramatically for the lower octane, right? ;)

A lot of the stations here still have $75 limit on single fuel purchases and I paid $3.99 gallon today for 87

20 gallons would be almost $5 over the $75 limit... so I would need to slide the card 3 times and still wouldn't have 60 gallons.

The 3 fuel purchases would happen when I put gas in the car and later I would gas the truck and then fill my tractor diesel cans...

I spent almost eight hours organizing and putting stuff away in the motorhome, and was pleased I got so much done.
My sister and her husband will come over tomorrow late afternoon to check it out and we will have a glass of wine together while my sister
opens all the drawers. Are all women that way? Curious, like the kitties.

Got my FineVue video camera installed on the front windshield and ready to go. I put it up high on the driver's side towards the middle where the windshield flattened out. Will be quite a panoramic view. I don't see a need for a radar detector, not like I'll be doing much speeding.
I'm not going over 65 no matter what the speed limit is; no sense pushing a barn door full of air any faster.

Now for a quiet night in.
before I leave on Wednesday I'll take a pic of the rig all hooked up.

I've never used a Walmart for boondocking but understand some do not allow boondocking due to local ordinances. Some states allow boondocking in rest areas....Kansas comes to mind and I've done that once. Some of the small towns in the plains states offer free/cheap camping in town. I've found the best way is to go to that towns website and see if they offer anything. Lowes is another option but check with store manager. A Good Sam card saves you a couple bucks at Good Sam CG's. They also have the .03 cents gas discount with Flying J/Pilot. Stock up on groceries as I find the prices go up out west compared to what it costs in Missouri.
A wealth of information on Rvnet (which is also Woodalls, same forums just different page graphics and URL).
below is a good website with interactive maps
Free or cheap places to camp

that's really an interesting link. I checked out further West of here in PA and saw Walmart, Home Depot, Petro truck stop, Howes Truck Stop, Cabela's, BJ's Warehouse, and on and on. You bet, sure changes by local area.

I have a couple more links on the home computer. I take a road trip out west every year so if I remember the thread I can mention places I've camped or out of the way stuff to see.
