Overpriced plastic toys for so-called grown up guys who want to make up for small weenies....I could pay cash for a new one but wouldn't bother to waste my money on such a useless, overpriced POS. A real man cares more about his mpg or tow rating than his mph.

Over compensating for short comings takes many forms. Some choose to drive a Vette, others choose to brag about buying one with cash.

You are the first one I heard call them overpriced, most critics proclaiming them to be a great value. 73 year old farmer neighbor just plucked $66K cash down on one, not sure of the size of his weeny. Sits in his garage with 13 miles on the clock.

Not sure on the weenie sizes here but most guys who have the money to buy these are the ones who hire people like me to work on them. If they took the time to take them apart, they would see just how cheaply they are put together. Ok, yes they may have fast motors but that is not the only thing that makes a good sportscar. Electronics fail (how many times do you push the door button to get in),don't let the battery get low and try to start it or you'll blow the relay in the dash and take you days to find it, transmissions go, fiberglass panels held on with small screws which crack easily, don't take door panels off too many times or you'll be buying new ones, etc, etc. Oh, not to mention how sky high the parts prices have gone, bumper emblem?, there is $100. Well you can afford the car why not the parts too. So IMO it is definitely overpriced.

JD, as a long time 'Vette owner I can take the hit. Bought my '80 'Plastic Chevy' when the boy was 2 ('81) and promised ever since that he could have it when he graduated. After high school and with now 2 degrees he isn't interested in having it when I'm gone. :irked: Has ~25k mi on it and hasn't been driven in over a decade, just a barn queen for 'coons & chipmunks to track up as they rummage around for a place to leave their 'calling cards' or have litters.

Lost the wife 30-some years ago, and subsequent GFs never cared to ride in it. (Some said I didn't need a Corvette.) Turns out what I don't need is a GF, esp at my age , and the car will never be as dear to me as my tractors have been. btw: I'm still a 'Bowtie Boy' despite also having 2 other Chevies ('98 Camaro & '99 K2500) from the model years with the worst defect records. (few probs with any of them).

IMO, a Corvette's obvious advantage over a motorcycle is that somewhere there's room for an 'FIA suitcase', but I can carry as much personal bling on my ZTR mower compared to either. 'Will trade for a 30-36" 3PH or SSQA-mount tree spade'. :D

I bought 2 the other day and paid cash. One to drive and the other for parts.

I see this in almost everything. So make every little thing just an ounce heavier and more costly and it will be no good for it's end purpose, great perfomance on the road at a fraction of the cost of comparable sports cars. Other than the door, I had these same problems with a 650 Kawasaki 4 wheeler costing less than 10% of a new vette, batt gets low, fries computer, twice. Body screws too wimpy and they want $2.50 per teeny screw. Problems with drive system etc. Best to let someone else own it in the end if you can't afford it.

As an R & D engineer who makes and ships millions of parts to all the Big Three and major Japanese auto plants, I can assure you we suggest product improvement quite regularly but if it costs .0005 cents more you can forget about it.

I bought this one new in 2008 and have not had a single problem with it. I like it nearly as much as my 6.7L Super Duty.
