Missing 777

All GPS has done is make mental cripples of most.
I don't know, the way it never directs me along the easiest route has exposed me to lots of places I might never have seen if I had used a map.

Friend of mine owns a tow business in rural Missouri. He loves GPS. Makes him a LOT of money.

I used to scoff at GPS and make fun of people for not using maps but if you think about it a decent gps is really just a big collection of maps in a convenient box. I've seen plenty of in accurate maps in my day.

Good point, the GPS is very accurate, but the mapping software that is displayed and you are following are only as good as the maps themselves and the algorithm that calculates your path.

I've always been amazed at the accuracy of the maps and the car icon showing where I am on the road. Sometimes, it will not understand construction detours.

What are the chances that a group stole the plane and then tossed a couple of black boxes overboard from a boat out in the Indian ocean just to throw off the search for runway landing points? Even if they find them, I'll bet they are 'empty' of conversation and aircraft damage flight data. These pilots knew what they were doing. I prefer the " 'dirty' bomb transporter needed" Craigslist ad theory myself.

Hollywood has already signed up for the mini-series. If they would use it while Congress is in session, I could probably go a long with it...

A 727 is easier to convert for nefarious use. Lots of them around waiting for buyers. I think.?

Watch it, ZZ, if you are trying to be funny, it's not. In fact, it sounds like you are in support of a terrorist WMD attack on Washington DC. Suggest you recant/remove the post.

777 has three times the range of 727 and much greater payload. However, 727 has short field takeoff and landing advantage, is smaller, and easier to hide (relatively speaking). Also, you can refuel a 727 over the wing, while you can't with a 777 (that I know of). Anyhow, I wouldn't think anyone could hide a 777 that easily for that long. But it would make a good plot.
