For those in north Texas with gardens in, have you looked at Monday night's forecast?!?!?! Yesterday, was calling for a low Monday night of 37*. Now calling for a low of 33* and FROST! I am NOT amused!!! :pullinghair: :muttering:

FG-- I'm less than amused. I got my tomatoes in last week and they've about doubled in size. I didn't get anything else in due to the rain and too muddy. They even looked pretty good and not too beat up by all the blasted wind we've had for over a week. Last year I had the most of the garden in when that last freeze came......it got about 70% of it all.

I didn't think I was too early this year........but we'll see. Hope we can dodge most of it.

I was VERY late getting the garden in, due to the late freezes, frosts and some other projects taking my time. I was concerned I might have been too late getting things hoed and in the ground. Last year, I had to RE-plant TWICE. I was sure as late as I was getting the work done this year, that I was safe from more winter weather.

And will someone please take my share of this wind?!?! It has made my flying not as much fun as it could be, and even had me grounded more often than I'd like.

FG, you'll be a better pilot for it:D I think i saw you flying over the house! White plane with a darker stripe and Blonde hair blow'n in the wind:laughing:

I dont know what I'm going to do, row covers are to darn expensive and not easy to get on short notice. I have corn 5-6" and beans likewise. Tomatoes I mulched over. Grocery isle may be cheaper again this year as last.

Yes, it was probably me! I was playing around Waco, but the darn wind kept taking me north! And let me tell you, between the wind and the heating effect, it has been TURBULENT! Takes most of the fun out of it. :irked:

What was the winds aloft? I was watching one Cessna, sounded like they where doing some kind of stall training??, but when they turned to the South (into the wind), it appeared like they where moving maybe 30 knots or 34.523 mph! You could hear it throttle up and he was peddling as fast as she would go:laughing:

Hows the fling going? Bet even with the wind, you are on cloud 9 being where you like to be!

Calling for 29 Monday night .. So much for the theory "when the Bois De Arc bud" no more frost!!

I got my half-acre yard mowed yesterday with my wife's help. I did most of it and she did the last 1/4 after she finished covering tomato plants with pots in the garden. My little Kubota G1800 fired right off and ran like a top. The new fuel pump and filters I put on last year seem to have cured all fuel fee problems and the engine just hums. I'll put new blades on it and get it serviced with oil change before the next use. It's turning out to be a superb investment, far better than the new JD I bought a few years ago. The Kubota is a true little "beast."

I've seen Mesquites fooled, even though they are supposed to be the predictor. I have never seen pecan trees fooled, but this year, most are already in bloom, with buds swelling. Might be the first time they get surprised too.

Western; I think it took 10 minutes to get blown from Waco, to the Oklahoma line with the winds, but took 2 hours to get from OK line back to Waco!

Anyone seen a hopper this year yet? I'm hoping the cold winter got them, or the cycle is over. Been real bad hear for three years. We had a three day 80+ weekend in Feb. then three days of a good freeze, I hope it took out most of them. Ready to spray at first sign this year. HS

I don't usually see the grasshoppers until the end of May or first of June!
