Our Prius is an 05. {and has 110K miles on it} Back when we first got it there wasn't many of them around. When we would go to the Sam's Club in Panama City we would buy a lot of stuff because we didn't get down there very often. Once we got four of the six foot shelving units. People in the parking lot stopped to watch us pack them into the car. They were amazed at the amount of cargo it would hold. We never put too much weight in it, but have often filled up every square foot of space available.

That sounds like me when I recently brought home four 77lb wheel weights in my Focus station wagon. I folded the rear seat bench forward then seatbelted the weights to the floor as if they were passengers. The guy I bought them from watched this with a look "Now I've seen everything".

Also - the brackets - steel loops - on each wall that the seat backs lock into when they are upright, make great cargo anchoring points when the seatbacks are folded down.

Anybody know how this Focus wagon (2001-2011 version) compares in interior space and cargo capacity, to the Prius?

21.6 cubic feet is what the current (original body style) Prius is rated at.

Never a bad thing to secure cargo.... in a bad crash, even a 5lb object can hurt you badly.

I gotta find my picture. I used to ride a wheelchair. With my wife on my lap, my yellow lab Service Dog on a shelf behind the seat and pulling one of those two place sport strollers back of that full of groceries. And no, I wasn't over loaded.

Safety Alert !

But you were using a weight-distributing hitch, Right ?

I like how one guys only concern seems to be that the car '''''was running rich"""" lol

Understatement - one aspect of typical British humour that I get a kick out of
