Dirt Moving Tooth Bar for BX1500 W/FEL ?

Ladies And Gentlemen;

I have a BX1500 w/FEL. I have a dirt moving project that involves leveling an area to accommodate a parking space. (Company truck) My question is, is my FEL strong enough to put a bolt on tooth bar to remove the clay base turf and possible tree roots.

I am aware of the lift limits, and plan to do the removal in layers with no more then 1/2 full bucket. My wife suggested a rented skid steer, but I can buy a bolt on tooth bar for less then a 1 day rental.

Ideas, suggestions?

I have a BXpanded toothbar on my B3200 and it works great. If you bite off more than it can chew, the tractor or the FEL hydralics will tell you. I've moved tons of dirt and brush already with mine and I will probably never remove it.

I also use the WR Long Tooth Bar. It usually has one more tooth on theirs vs others that I have seen so the teeth are a little closer together.

If you happen to have a rototiller you can also use it to break up the base (or subsoiler, plow, etc). Makes it a bit easier on the the tractor if you think it is going a bit too hard

I got the Piranha tooth for my BX23 and it was night and day, I could cut right in, remove brush, and rocks where no longer a hinderance. Remember your bucket is for moving piles of debris, so use it easy and shave layers if you can.

I've owned a BX1500 and a B3200. Your signature shows you have both. Why would you use the tiny instead of the regular sized? The B3200 would do your job fairly well with just the front bucket, I would and do think but the BX1500 is going to struggle at that job and have major traction problems. A tooth bar has a place in the implements owned but it won't magically turn a tractor FEL into a digger. I believe you'll be disappointed at the results if your expecting a toothbar to do a much better job that just the bucket it has on it now. A boxblade will do a better job, more different jobs and will provide the needed rear weight to counter the FEL weight all of the time. Bust the ground up and then scoop it up is right but a BX1500 straight on with a toothbar ??????? Tilting bucket with a toothbar and back dragging, which I've done a lot of back dragging in my years but it is a very risky way to destroy the FEL and I would expect more so with a BX1500.

I do the maintenance and repairs on the 3200, it is my Father-in-laws, (90 years old) and there is no way he would let me borrow it.

You make some interesting points, but the area I am going to level is not so much digging as it is dirt moving. I have a raised area of about 30' x 20' that is about 8" to 18" higher then my driveway. I hav used just the bucket to move some of this material in the past. It was not to my liking. The area is topsoil and clay. As for rear weight, I have loaded tires (Beet Juice) and a Back Blade, so ballast is not a big issue.

I am fairly new to the loader operations, but with the tooth bar, I can already see ways I could clean areas of scrub brush and areas of potholes I could fill.

When done with the leveling, I would use the bar as a leveler for the gravel on clay driveway.

As I stated before, the 3200 is one I maintain, not own and would not be able to borrow.
