Well, I finally got a price on the machine today. The dealer quoted me $32k without loader. I laughed so hard and just left the dealer. I did find several new units on Machine finder that I'm going to pursue. I was hoping to buy local but that's insane for a used unit. I actually found a cherry 110 with out the hoe for a steal but since I'm not confident that I'd be able to locate a hoe for it, I'll pass for now.

I assume most of you don't work construction in the heavy equipment industry lol. Demos can rack up more than a hundred hours. We get demos all the time from cat and komatsu. We do use them for a full 40 hour work week. And most of the time we aren't the first job site to demo that unit. With that said, we have bought demos with between 200 and 300 hours. You get a few bucks off the price and full warranty from the date of purchase. Must be cleaned up and anything ruined replaced. It's not such a bad deal. Some people just a little picky I guess. Most people don't put anywhere near the amount of hours on the machine to come close to the warranty limits. So to have a few more hours on it is a good thing so you know the machine has been through the paces. A demo is a demo. Used is when it was sold previously. Come on people. If the machine is a tier 3, someone will buy it and be a happy camper as well

Is this a cabbed machine or an open station?

I've got no issue's with the 100 hr, I do however expect a decent discount. The machine is an OS with no loader and one SCV. It's really not a big surprise that this dealer is unwilling to deal. I went to him first when I bought my 3320. He was unwilling to negotiate then also. However after I purchased the machine elsewhere I stopped in for fluids and he asked what I purchased. I told him what I bought and he replies that I should've given them a shot to compete for the sale. I explained that my time was valuable and I wanted his best price straight off, not after I wasted several days driving from dealer to dealer.

I understand pricing is highly regional with new England being quite high, but something is wrong when you can buy the same machine and have it shipped to you for thousands less than buying local. I can save even more if I were to pickup, deere really needs to evaluate the regional pricing.

The 400cx has more lift capacity than a 400x. About 20 % more I think.
Thx for info- for some reason I thought with all the self leveling hardware the CX had LESS lifting capacity. Any idea where you can get all the specs on the website? Like I would like to know what posted weight of my 4720 cab is.

HERE IS A LINK to the 4720 specs. The spec area list the SHIPPING weight for the cab model at 4345 lbs, but I remember that the Nebraska Test Labs measured the open station model's operating weight at about 450 lbs heavier than the shipping weight.
I'm attaching the PDF for the loader specs for the 400x and 400cx.
The mechanical self leveling system really shines at 20 inches out from the piviot point. It is something to keep in mind when comparing to the "off" brands that don't list lift specs at 500mm out. Many "off" brands such as the LS4047 also just use shorter arms, so they are just trading lift height, and dump clearance for lift capacity.

Thx-don't know where I ever got the idea that yoiu sacrificed something with the CX. Also, the rollback number to me is most significant number in loader specs, andd the CX is tops in that regard. Also, the rollback angle on the 400 is in a word dangerous as if you are not paying attention, you have a hood full of material:)

Yes, the self leveling will keep you from dumping back on hood, but the X is nice when you are carrying a full bucket a couple feet off the ground, in that case the bucket is basically horizontal. The 400cx maintains the same rollback from ground to full height, so it doesn't roll back as much when you are a couple feet off the ground.

I stopped by my local deere dealer the other day to check out a 4520 they have.
It's a 2013 with 400x loader. After checking it out I noticed a lot of small rust imperfections from it sitting outside for a while.
Nothing faded or serious just cosmetic. The unit also had about 100 "demo" hrs on the meter.
I pointed these imperfections out to the salesman he brushed it off as I expected, I also mentioned the fact I wouldn't be purchasing with the 400x loader.
I explained I wanted either a new CX or the current self leveling H series.

I would really like to stick with a non tier 4 engine but want to make sure I get the best deal I can on what I consider a used/demo unit.
Being this is a non current model what is a realistic price for this machine. It's an ehydro with 3rd scv and r4's.

Hey Matt, I looked at that exact same tractor last summer. Nice machine, but I ended up buying a Massey Ferguson instead due to price. The price I was quoted for that tractor last summer was $32,600.

Oh, and by the way, that dealership you went to is NOTORIOUS for being snobbish. It's one of the reasons I've purchased two Masseys instead of John Deeres. Of course, their ridiculous pricing has a lot to do with it, too.

BTW, I live in Putnam.
