John Deere 4105
I have a new John Deere 4105 compact utility tractor and a new MX5 rotary cutter. I have found that you cannot move the draft to fully raised without the front lip of the MX5 hitting the rear tires. The mower and tractor are listed at compatible. Has anyone else run into this problem. Is there any solution I am missing other than purchasing telescoping draft links and having them installed? That is the only answer I have been able to get from my dealer.

Get a quich hitch for your 3 pt. You will love it and it will move the mower out about 3-4 inches.

Welcome aboard!
Hate that, but is there any way you can post a picture or two of the problem?
That way we can see at what point its hitting in the arc and may can spot if there is something amiss (like the wrong lift arms installed on your tractor from new - stranger things have happened)

The ball ends of the standard lift arms on that tractor should be for enough out from the rear tires to give plenty of clearance.

Could shorten the top link..see if that would clear the tires.

It is because of the R-4 tires. All ratings and compatibilities are always based on the standard R-1 tire.

How much pressure in the rear tires? Drop them to 6-10psi.
Are the vertical links between the lower arms and the rockshaft adjustable in length ?

Please explain how lower rear tire pressure will keep mower from contacting tires in raised position. I'll bet it doesn't state in operator's manual to lower rear tire pressure to 6-10 psi. I'll second shortening center link or installing quick hitch or Pat's easy hitch.

I'm betting you have the top link too long. Together with the floating top link on the mower, when you raise the deck it is sagging at the rear enough to allow the deck front edge to contact the tires.

Reduces the diameter of the rear tires.

This is the most likely cause. The rear of the deck should be a few inches higher than the front when lowered to cutting position. Also, only raise as high as necessary for safe transport.
