I am replacing the inside knotter on my 14t when i got everything off the shaft i found the intermittent gear is loose on the shaft the key way is worn if i shim it up and it is off 1/32 will that make it not work like it should tie knots

knotters are very sensitive to correct adjustments... If you have doubts, have the key way filled and re machined to correct tolerance.. or widen all the corresponding keyways and put oversized keys in.... or clean everything well, mix up some JB type epoxy and put it all together and be sure it is in the correct position.... "my choice"
If the baler worked OK before you took it apart, it "should" work fine for years... at least until no one remembers what a 14T is..... I have one and I do what ever I can to keep it running.... I love it....

I had one and it was old when I bought it but worked just fine for me. Parts were readily available from local JD dealer. One day I was coming through a gate with it in the bale position and got distracted....you guessed it, ripped the side out of it. I got it cobbled back together and it worked but never the same.

Just joining in to say we too own one of these treasures! It's not our main baler, our JD336 does most of the work for us, but this little guy fills in handily when the big brother is sidelined for whatever reason! It definitely is a tried and true baler, once we got it in working order! Turns out nice bales!
