Orange tractor 45 HP comparison

I know there is another thread on the Kioti and Kubota comparison so hopefully this posting isn't overkill. Since I am asking about two different model comparisons, I didn't want to hijack the other thread on the Kioti and Kubota comparison. I was in the midst of buying a used but fairly new Kubota L4400 (4wd with Loader) with less than 100 hours, until my friend told me to look at the Kioti. The Kubota is for sale at 22k. My friend said I can get a brand new Kioti or Mahindra for the same price or slightly less. I think, looking at the Kioti's website, a close comparison is the DK45 or NX4510. Not sure what the prices are but I don't live too far from a Kioti dealer. I guess I am asking if I should go ahead and buy a tractor with a reputable name like kubota or buy a Korean tractor I never heard of? No knock on the Koreans but is Kioti an established tractor name? I mean, have people been buying these tractors 10 years ago or are most Kioti owners on this forum owners of a newer kioti model which has not been tested for the longevity? Also, given the same price of each tractor, are they both the same in performance and reliability? Does one tractor out perform the other? Is there a big advantage in buying one over the other? Daedong Industrial (founded in 1947) is the parent company of Kioti which produced its first tractors in 1968. Daedong expanded into the US market with the Kioti brand in 1993. There is a Kioti section here where you can browse and see what folks think of the Kioti brand. My take is they have established a solid reputation offering an excellent product line equaling Kubota's reputation. Kioti's web site offers a detailed overview of their history.

Given your scenario, I would take a serious look at Kioti if for no other reason, buying new gives you a warranty.

If I had it to do over again, I would have at least took the time to check into a Kioti. I bought a used Kubota L3400 that I'm satisfied with however in retrospect, I could have gotten more tractor with the same money.

Kioti tractors are good. What separates Kubota from Kioti is dealer network (reputation too, of course). Kubota has far more dealers. Kioti is growing and seem to be committed to the U.S. market. Many Kioti's (Daedongs) are also sold rebadged by Bobcat and McCormick. In general, you can get way more tractor for less money with Kioti. For some applications (mower intensives uses), Kiotis may not be the best choice due to it being such a heavy tractor (leading to compaction). The weight of a Kioti and its hydraulic flow are what caused me to buy one. I wanted a digging machine, and weight is king for digging. Flow rate, means faster cycle times for backhoes and the like that use fluid for motion. I also liked the heavy weight of the front axle: much heavier than most other brands. And I know of at least one Kubota owner (L4620 I think) that has to rebuild his front end every year (presumably due to loader work mucking horse stables). You won't be making a mistake if you buy a Kioti. The DK40 or DK45 is probably their best product too.

Is the L4400 a shuttle or HST? That's a very fair price, especially if it's HST. A Kioti DK45SE would compete power wise, and probably has a few more features and a stronger loader. A new DK45SE HST sells around here for around $23k.

If you're looking at shuttle shift, you can also look at the DS 4510... Same power specs as the DK, same loader, a few less features and no hydro option, but it will also be a couple thousand less than the DK.

Both orange tractors are good ones, but the Kioti is known to be a better value.

Pretty much what everyone else said, Kioti's biggest problem in my area is the dealer network. My brother had to go out of state to get the model/price he wanted in Kioti. He has the truck and trailer to transport as well as mechanical ability to keep it out of the dealer's garage unless it's a warranty thing in which case he just hauls it over.

I "think" Kioti is right about where Kubota was several years ago which is keeping the price down. When I bought my first Kubota in 2003 they were really reasonably priced and few people around here ever heard of them. When I bought my last they were less "reasonably priced and several people around me have gone from Deere to Kubota; some like us have both.

Kioti and Kubota both make good tractors; can't say with anyauthority one make is "better" than another though some models are between and within brands.

LS and Mahindra are also priced pretty good and while I have no personal experience with them seem like good quality machines, I would look at all of them before buying and spend as much time driving them as possible.

Kubota's are good machines, and Kioti's are good machines. I have a Kioti now and have owned 2 Kubota's. the L4400 is an "economy" model or as Kubota calls it a "standard" model. The DK40 and DK45 are deluxe machines with many more features. Of course they would come with a 4 year warranty. As other's have pointed out, you are not going to go wrong buying either one, but there is no reason to fear the Kioti. I have owned mine for a little over 2 years and have over 230 hours on it, and it is a real workhorse. Just look the tractors over, and decide on the level of features you want on things like telescoping lower links and stabilizers, draft control on the 3pt, rear remote hydraulic connections, rear 3pt control (Kioti exclusive) twin touch hst pedals vs treadle pedal, tilt steering, electric/hydraulic PTO and 4wd controls. Also of course the loader specs and 3pt specs are quite a bit better on the Kioti as is front axle size. Its your choice and your money.. I know which way I would be looking.

The Kubota L4400 is a basic machine, and is a high HP lightweight. Meaning it is about 800-900 lighter than other mid 40hp tractors. Which means its loader is also not gonna lift as much.

A really good comparision to the DK40/DK45se is the Kubota L4240 and 4740. They spec out nearly identical. But with the kubota you are going to pay more for reasons mentioned above.

IF I were shopping today, I too would be giving kioti, mahindra, and LS a good hard look. I ended up with a kubota cause when I purchased 8 years ago, there were only deere, kubota, and CNH dealers within a distance that I wanted to drive.

They are all good machines. And you have many good options. So the tractor you want/like is out there. Just gotta find it.
