There is no coolant in the oil, and no visible oil in the coolant overflow bottle. Of course, there's lubricity in the coolant so I couldn't tell by touch. I will put all new parts on with the exception of the head gasket, then run the tractor and see what temp it runs at. I think my idiot light is out anyway, so the temp sensor is a great upgrade. I've always made sure there's coolant in the tractor before I run it, and check all fluids.

We have a radiator shop here that will put a new core and rebuild your tanks and it usually runs about $125.

Just throwing this out there, but would a closed thermostat put pressure on the system and fail the weak spots of the system, such as the drain line and splitting the radiator?

We have a radiator shop here that will put a new core and rebuild your tanks and it usually runs about $125.

Nearest radiator shop to me would cost $60 just in fuel and bridge tolls for 2 round trips, plus everything costs more around here, so it'd likely be a whole lot more than $125 for the rebuild. I'll keep this radiator and maybe have it rebuilt down the road as a backup.

Just throwing this out there, but would a closed thermostat put pressure on the system and fail the weak spots of the system, such as the drain line and splitting the radiator?

This tractor has no thermostat. It's a thermosiphon system.

Just received my shipment from Hoye Tractor. I'm going to be honest that I'm a little disappointed with these guys. I originally ordered the radiator, hoses, belt, temp gauge kit, and operator's manual. I called back 5 minutes after ordering on the web and asked if I could add a head gasket and the service manual. He asked for the order number and said no problem he was going to double, triple, quadruple check to make sure it was added. Not only did I NOT receive the head gasket and service manual, but they shorted me the operator's manual. Looking at the receipt they did not charge me for the head gasket or service manual, but I WAS charged for the operator manual. I waited a week for this stuff.

It has been my experience that ordering anything on line gets screwd up. I've orderd H-D parts over the internet, at a place I've always orderd from. Then called back to add, and they couldn't find order number. Needless to say now I stick to over the phone, as I did before. Besides even with paypal, I don't trust putting my CC # out there. Just saying

No doubt you reported this discrepancy to Hoye before plastering it on an open forum. Did you check your spam folder?

Actually, I have not been able to. They were closed by the time the package came late yesterday, and they're closed today, will be closed for the next two days, and so I won't be able to contact them until Monday. Considering it took a week to get these parts, and the fact that I can't reach them until Monday, the blunder will have cost me another week at least. Adding that on to the two days they cost me with the tire mixup, and I'd say it's quite fair to report my disappointment online, thank you very much. And I have no idea what you're even talking about when you mention my "spam folder".
