Tough hunting today, only found ten with this being the nicest one. We need some more rain for it to really start getting good, it's just been too dry.

We been getting plenty of rain so far. Just too cold yet. Gonna be about 2 more weeks before we even start to seeing them around here I think.

When the turkeys start talking is when I start looking for morels, I tie the two together during scouting trips, find plenty of birds, but no shrooms.

Our Turkeys are definitely active. I haven't looked for shroons yet, but everything is so far behind at ground level that I can't see them being here yet. Our ground temps are just too cold now. But it's coming!!!

I had some mushrooms that looked like that pop up under a plum tree I have. Just pulled them out and threw them away as the dog has been chewing on one and I didn't want her to get sick... guess if they show up next year I am going to have to pay more attention to see if they are the good kind.

Dead elm and cherry tree roots/stumps from what I have heard. Elm had been pretty much gone for decades so that option will be disappearing. But it's been cold here until today so next week in the turkey woods I won't even bother looking. But to an earlier post, my dad became a fan of the "shaggy Maine" that apparently grows where ever it wants to. Apparently they should not be eaten if you are consuming adult beverages...we were close to calling the local EMS after a deck party where he mixed the two...

I found some the other day (first find since owning my property) by accident. I was pulling an oak log off a rocky hillside and almost stepped on it. I found 15 within a 10' radius of the first one. I was camping and had half of them for breakfast the next morning. :licking:

I have heard elm, ash, and old orchards... also look for may apple, jack-in-the-pulpit, and trilliums when in the woods.. you're more likely to find them around that stuck than say... mustard weed and the like..
