i've have put a rug/carpet/cardboard on my trunk and back window/ back of roof and put that thing there, if I only had a car, and had to haul it vs having it's wheels touch pavement.

them things usually only have bushings in front.. which would have burnt up.. nad the rear would have spun the grease to the sides and if it didn't burn up. likely took 3/4's of it's life off. may have thrown some metal intot he grease too. Not to mention those tires are not speed range rated, and are soft. they could heat and blow.. or simply wear smooth WAY way too fast.

Judging by the old washer on the roof I think the guy was on his to the scarper.

Came up on this accident.
A trailer with several large spools of pipe or wire and very little tongue weight.
The guardrail was straight the day before.

Passed this accident on the road today. If you look carefully, you can see the bottom of a large travel trailer that has overturned. ...Best guess from the way it was laying was that the tail started to wag the dog...
Wow. How big an SUV? I hope not an Explorer.

I saw a similar incident years ago. Identical downhill sweeping freeway curve. Against the center divider and upside down was a travel trailer parallel to the center line. In front of that, still lined up straight in front of the trailer and with just its nose touching the ground, was the jumbo 2-door 70's Cadillac tow vehicle with Gramps and Granma hanging upside down in their seatbelts. No apparent injuries. The whole upside down rig had just ground to a stop along the center barrier when we drove by. (And others were already bailing out to help).

I wondered if setting the sway resistance too stiff could cause that and account for them still being lined up.

I couldn't say for sure. I only got the briefest glimpse as I drove by, and there was a lot to take in. I'm not even 100% sure it was an SUV and not a truck--that's just the impression I got as I drove by.

Good eye on noticing the downhill sweeping curve. That may have been a contributing factor in the accident.

I do my best to stay clear of all large trucks on the road. I figured out the physics a long time ago, but confirmed by talking to truck drivers - most hate to haul steel coils - spooky/dangerous load When Things Go Wrong.

Those K barriers aren't easy to shift.... just hope there wasn't any small vehicles in between. I remember a picture in the Toronto paper years ago, a tractor trailer jacknifed bad on dry pavement (looked like something major broke on the left front wheel) and pretty much punched a small car through a K barrier.

I didn't keep that picture, but it still haunts me now and then.....

Rgds, D.

I don't understand drivers in free-flowing traffic that don't care if they are beside a truck or trailer for a long time. I'll speed up or slow down to spend as little time as possible beside one. I even avoid being beside a car.

Some people are just oblivious to the world around them. It's like a left turn signal left on while in the left lane with no one else around for miles.

i dunno. for some reason. people around here when they move. will haul with them 10-20 yr old appliances.

I can't see moving a 2o yr old washer if I'm moving. ;)
