Much like picking up a firearm, both can kill you if you are stupid.

raise the bar for getting a "standardized" license ...
raise the bar for manufacturers ( someone must be held accountable for decisions made ) ....
then we can start to see progress on all fronts ....

as far as "stupid" , the standardized testing should include a common sense section ... and have them read aloud and sign a form that says " driving is a privilege, not a right ... and may be revoked at any time for foolish behavior that endangers any person " ....

It makes me sad to have to say that because of all of the people who work an honest days labor at GM.

I kind of think the media picks up what recalls or flaws they want to pickup and run with. There have been worse problems with vehicles that go unspoken of. Then you have the run away toyotas conveniently when GM needs to be painted as a good guy while suckling the tax teat. Then you have the operators... I have had a few situations where the go pedal sticks or complete loss of brakes and I didnt have to get the phone book out to find the nearest trip and fall lawyer.

Agreed! But I do believe those people would get other jobs and other companies would pick up the slack the way the rest of the world works.

Even if you think no one should have heavy key chains, GM knew about the problem for 10 years. They didn't send warnings to lighten your key chain, or to bring it in if you were concerned. They hid the truth for a decade and let people die. If the heavy key chains are at fault, why do no other manufacturers have this problem? They gambled, and lost, and now they don't think they should pay up on their debt.

GM employs over 200,000 people in 37 countries.

just try those responsible for murder etc. jail them then get the company headed in the correct direction.
