Basic necessities to have with your tractor

I thought this thread would be informative and useful for readers. Also was anxious to see new ideas. Seems like most of the responses are negative toward those that volunteered information.

Before you negatively attack an item that someone is carrying you should reflect a moment. Would an operator carry something just to create "clutter"?? Would same operator carry something heavy and bulky that was not needed?? Probably not.

So with that said, wouldn't your above response have served everyone better if you simply asked why someone would carry an extra top link and side link??
:confused3:
My question:) I enjoy seeing all the ideas but was lost on the spare top link. I bet there is something to learn there. I thought perhaps it is to deal with an assortment of cat 1 and cat 2 implements

I use TnT. My TnT does not have pilot lock valves. With a constant load the cylinders will eventually drift.

For the top link, I remove the cylinder and attach the solid top link if I'm pulling/carrying heavy loads using the top bar of my QH.

For the side link, I remove the cylinder and attach the solid side link when I'm using my mounted brush cutter so everything stays level.

My uses and equipment is scattered between two farms. Nothing more aggravating than needing to change links and one required being at the other location.....

Thanks for asking. :)

I never get too far from my barn so I usually carry more personal type stuff: sunscreen, water (drinking), sunhat, sunglasses, bugnet hat, scraper (mower deck clog), leather gloves (thistles 'n such), earplugs, sometimes a dust mask or respirator (if dry or allergy season). That's about it, I think.

I'm not gonna provide my winter list cause I'm sick of winter!

One thing I haven't seen mentioned that I always have on hand, is a tire plug kit. If you poke a hole in your loaded tires you want to do everything you can to keep the fluid in the tire.

4lb hammer, spray can lube, draw pin, snap pin, bungee cord, small ~20' chain.

It is truly amazing what you can do out in the fields with a tractor if you arrive there with the right stuff.

Hmmm! Lets see. Shop towels to wipe off some of the dirt on my hands. Extra gloves - sometimes I play in the water and get really wet(allover). If I get wet all over - i.e. fall in - then its a trip home. Most of my extra tools, etc are carried on my implements. Extra locking pins on all implements and shear bolts for those that are pto driven. Crescent wrenches on those that have nuts/bolts that will need adjustment. I keep the required tools on my implements - in the op manual tube - because the "tool box" on my tractor is a joke. I've had it unlock on one of my rough trails and spill EVERYTHING out on the ground. I keep shop towels in the tool box now. And maybe a candy bar or two. And a pack of chewing gum. Actually, in the 32 years I've had a tractor I've never had to do field repairs or maintenance. I try to get all that maintenance stuff done at home and so far, have been quite successful. Take that back - had to install new shear bolts on my snow thrower when it tried to eat a wooden fence post or large rock.

Sorry you took offense to that. I was making light of your obvious overkill, as did a few others (maybe we are not the ones who need to reflect?). I'm 55 years old, don't need no lectures on how to behave, thank you.

Keeping the tools on the implement is brilliant. I've also seen a few really sharp chain saw scabbards around the board that give me some ideas. Searching has led me to use all the cool ideas I've seen for a carry all to construct the ultimate one. Reading everything I could find about clearing the field had made me realize I absolutely need some sort of brush cutter grabber tooth bar for my bucket.

Thanks for all the great ideas so far.

That's a cooler. My Son gave it to me several years ago. Looks just like a Delco battery huh. :)
