Today's local news contains a story that the planned new 13,000 square foot fire station near Okemos, Michigan can begin groundbreaking in July. A circuit court judge denied a temporary restraining order against the township, one that had been filed for homeowners in a condo development. According to the story, the condo owners assert that a fire station near their homes will, quote: "Hamper their QUALITY OF LIFE (emphasis added here) and reduce their property values...."
I personally find that reasoning absurd...why would any logical person object to having firefighters and EMT's nearby? If my township chose to build a new fire station next door to me, I would welcome such a project.
Any comments? Thanks.
