The Morels Have Arrived

My wife and a friend of hers went hunting yesterday and found 20 grays 2-3" tall. We'll feast tonight!!!

I love the pics everybody, thanks! That's a good looking spot. Unfortunately I think they are finished here in Oklahoma. With 90s in next forecast, what has dried up won't last long! This year I did not find near as many as last. I'm going to attribute it to the lack of rainfall in our area. Our ponds are lower than I've ever seen. The local lake is everything but dry. Many friends of mine who live in southern Oklahoma were finding a lot. But they were also getting rains that were staying south of us!

Yep they are long gone in my area. The only time I have to worry about tresspassers on my little slice of paradise are when the morels are popping out.

I can't stand that! Fortunately, I'm so paranoid about missing them that I am usually the first to get to my spots, even though most are on public corps of engineers land. I do have some on my own piece of property, but most around here know me well enough to stay off or it could turn ugly haha.
