I lost one dog to Lyme, I didn't know any better.

Nearly lost my daughter's dog while in my care. I had to tell the vet to just give me the antibiotics! Cleared up in 24 hours, then pills for a month. I hear it never truely goes away.

Waiting ...waiting to reappear.

boblibido - I feel your pain - lol. I was pulling ticks every time I worked outside. To make it worse, I get an itchy red knot on every bite site that may last for more than a week.

Since learning about permethrin, it has been extremely rare to find a "live" tick. I believe they must have fallen on me in tall brush, thereby avoiding my clothing. If you wear a hat - soak it too.

I'd be very interested to hear your results. I think you will be amazed :)

Three or so weeks ago when the temp hit about 40 I picked one off my daughters head, it seems like it doesn,t take much temp for them to come out.
Wife put frontline on the dog and cat right after that, I think it works more for an attractant. I seem to be picking those ticks off daily from those two and occasionally i find those big purple grapes on the floor in the house.

I hate ticks. I have found them on me every day I have been outside since it has warmed up. I am pulling them off my dogs at an alarming rate as well.

I'm going to get some of that stuff and soak all of my work clothes in it. Maybe I will just soak my whole body in it and see if I can kill more of them.

I have some seeds started... they will go in my perennial herb garden.

I hate ticks. Hate em. I'm using the new Soresto collar for me hound. Just get one! They work!! Lasts 8 months too. Put one on me dog last June, nary a tick, flea nor nothing biting her! Just changed it last month.

Yes friends, thats Soresto, with an "s". And remember, Soresto spelled backwards is Otseros.

I have used permethin to treat my socks and work pants and it simply works at killing/repelling ticks and chiggers. Lately, I have been a bit lazy, and just spray the clothes with Deet, which works just as well.

Ticks have been here for a few weeks now. They have gotten the wife and the dog. I have seen them on me but gotten them off before they bit. Hate the things....

Another month or so and the Chiggers will be here. I really hate those things but I think I am getting somewhat immune to their bite.

Frontline seems to be a bit iffy in my area. I know years ago it was NOT killing fleas when we lived in the city. The problem with Frontline is that the ticks and fleas have to bit the dog to pick up the poison. We can often see ticks on the dogs fur and pull them out before the dog gets bit. I need to go put out the "traps" with cotton balls treated with Pemethrin. Bought some PVC to do that months ago and never got around to it....

Later,
Dan

I've been using this stuff for the hounds when out running rabbits..I spray it on their fur lightly then rub it in their fur backwards

It holds up well in rain and swamps and the only ticks on them will be around the head (where I don't put it).....the stuff really stinks but they can still smell rabbits on the trail

Obviously, we all hate ticks and the injury they cause. Thanks for sharing your best advice on human and animal protection. Our government spends so much on useless research, why not on ticks?

My wife was bitten twice. The second time with erylychious. After that, I cut back a great deal around the house and barn. The deer browse and eat everywhere, besides all of God's other little critters with the Lyme tick.
