I would have to drive it maybe.. 6 hours....one time. The tractor would pretty much be land locked after that as I even contemplated having someone else use their tractor and haul it for me, to save the cost of the trailer.

I might have that done anyway, not sure yet. I prefer to be self-sufficient, but the trailer is at the bottom of the priority list due to this reasoning.

For a one time use (if you dont want to ask your friend), I might try someplace like United Rental. They often rent equipment trailers.

You need atleast a 10k trailer anything bigger DOT comes into the equation n that means trouble! here in Pa they r nuts over that.

I have a couple friends with 20-24ft trailer that haul their tractors out there all the time, so should be good to go for hauling this one out there.

I may still opt to get a trailer, if the cost per month is negligible. Just trying to get the most for the money my wife will let me spend.. lol

I've always felt that heavy towing should be done with a HD truck, but that being said - your truck should do just fine for occasional use.

You don't state how far, or how often you'd be towing, so it's hard to judge.

Just make sure that you have a suitable trailer with brakes on both axles, and the proper controller hooked up in the truck.

All go and no "whoa" is dangerous as heck. All the towing capacity in the world is useless if some dipstick pulls out in front of you and you cannot stop in time!

Congrats on choosing a TYM!

Wise words of wisdom.
It is not just the towing capacity, but also the trailer. You'll want sufficient braking capabilities in case of incidents such as animals or other vehicles.
Wouldn't want to scratch up that new TYM hood or that truck of yours. ;)

For small distances, I'd say you're good to go though! Safety first.

I hear ya...but if all I have is the F-150, then that is what I have to use.. heh

Having towed a boat bigger than me for years, I always allow for more stopping distance than normal and the old adage, "there are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old bold pilots" always is a 'mantra' I carry with me.

That being said, I am leaning towards opting out of getting the trailer and getting a grappler instead. I have too many friends with bigger trucks and big trailers not to take advantage of that... heh

Good call on the grapple. Mine arrived last Friday afternoon... I had to go to NAPA today to get all the hoses made.

Holy crap hoses have gotten expensive!

Cannot wait until tomorrow so I can hook it all up!

grats!

Looking at all sorts of options, but added grapple and the remote that adds a button in the cockpit to my list.
