There were a bunch of them and other Stude's in town this week for a car show. One of the perks of living in South Bend... home of the Studebaker National Museum. :thumbsup:

There's a 59 hawk in the paper today with the original motor for $9K.

I'll chime in here as an owner of a PT1845 .......all of their models are 'rude & crude' but do get the job done and in my case with no serious problems for about 10 years. I did swap-out the wheel motors for low-speed/high torque to better suit my extreme steep property and along with foaming the wider-set tires (about 6" worth) have never tipped it on 35++ deg rocky slopes, although did have to use the come-a-long to get off a low-cut stump once. It is rock-solid and have about 8 PT and custom attachments.....limited lift & reach however......like the Energizer Bunny.....no regrets! !
A local guy down here where I am currently in Tasmania (AU) had an Avant (smaller model, stand-on platform to operate, no seat, do not recall the number) we were using on a rock wall project and tipped it over with a wheel up on a rock the wrong way.....used a mini-ex to right it and back to work......machine was fairly beat-up to begin with, but none the worse for the latest miss-adventure that I could see.....plastic is just decorative like on most CUTs. I have looked at the product line and they seem quite decent although more $$ than PT, they do have that dealer network and probably a better resale value.
Both seem like good machines.....sort of what you are looking for or willing to DIY (or real good local small-engine & hydraulic mech)
I am currently using a used Kubota F-2880 front-mower (with wheel spacers & loaded tires) for my also very-steep mowing tasks in Tas.....working great !
