My last month at work.

Congratulations. All you guys talking about retiring and being retired are making me jealous, and also making me feel incredibly young. One thing is for sure when I retire it will be on a little farm or an acreage. Besides if you do it like that it's not really retiring it's just a career change with flexible hours.

That is so true, days of the week don't even register, have to look at the date on the computer just to see what month it is. Every day is a work day unless I deem it a non-work day just to relax. Weekends used to be for catching up on my homework and recreation but when you buy acreage, it seems everyday there is something to do. This is good though as it keeps your body and mind occupied rather than becoming a couch potato and dying 1 year or less after retirement.

Very true. You stop moving you are dead. I used to work with guys who counted years, then months and days till retirement. While doing so they would tell us how they will spend their time after they retire. We heard stories about fishing, gardening, tennis, bicycling etc. Those who actually did what they planned lived and those who didn't died not long after retirement.

I am now retired for the last 6 years. Everyday is a great opportunity to give back and make a difference in whatever I do!

Best wishes from a fellow educator-20 years in-it sounds like we did the same thing, working through college (me with Juvenile Delinquents) and then teaching. I have considered every break as "practice for retirement"- I'm starting to get good at it!!
