Birds and the weather.

The robins finally arrived here last week. My Wife dislikes them because they start singing just before sunrise and are they loud! Beautiful but loud. I'm usually up drinking coffee by then and I enjoy them.

We don't have boblinks yet, pretty soon! To a predator flying over they blend in with the grass. Around here we see them go from the telephone pole wires and drop into the field alongside, singing as they do.

I saw a coopers hawk flying through on the edge of Bangor two days ago - thin tail, broad wings, bigger than a sparrow hawk.

-Cool today, not much sun, light breeze - not really cold though.

I'm pretty lazy in looking for birds, but I always am listening for something out of place. Yesterday it was a northern yellowthroat warbler (common once here), and a chestnut sided warbler. I saw an oriole on the way home from work fly across the road. A person at work reported that she had seen an indigo bunting out of the window along with a rose breasted grosbeak and her hummingbirds.
I need to get out more! Chipping sparrows are around as well.
Funny day today, the rain was predicted to begin at 8:00 am. It is not here yet, but the wind is strong and warm - from the south I suspect. Very pleasant outside.
There is a rose breasted grosbeak singing outside now. I wasn't sure of the song so I have alternated between listening to it on the computer (Dendroica USA - Wilson\'s Snipe - Gallinago delicata) and listening to the song through the window.

Just working outside some today- no rain, but ground is damp. Heard a black and white warbler from some spruce and poplar mix. In the apples and honey suckles it sounded like a catbird today. Heard their call yesterday as well, during the rain. I caught the end of a song and it sounded like a Northern Waterthrush. They nest further down the road where the beaver is. My wife said that she has seen a great blue heron in there moving around.
My son in Augusta tells me he has seen bluebirds and more recently, common nighthawks flying up the river (look like overly large swallows flying!).
The tree swallows are picking out a nest box up on a pole - and chittering.
Bobolinks are here in the fields around us. -Ground nesters.
