It's terrible to hear about the fires in your neighborhood, I'm sure you had many friends who lost much, Glad to know you were not touched by the fires and made it out safely, I know of many folks who have lost everything they worked hard for all their life due to house fires, I'm sure you realize how fortunate you are, a very close call

Used to live in Oceanside, backed up to a canyon on Pendelton property behind the airport. Had 2 fires back in 2000 that scared the crap out of us. Stay safe!

The evacuation orders were lifted for the town we're in (Carlsbad) but an adjoining town (San Marcos) is in much worse shape... lots of fires and lots of homes burning. It's a day-to-day situation here but I think the worse is behind us in Carlsbad.

In this map, the black block is our office building, the red area is the fire, and the purple dot is an office building that burned down. We got very lucky in this one that the wind turned the other way when it did.
