50 Hr maintenance

What options besides the three recommended fluids in the owners manual ( exxonmobil, shell donax, bp tractran uth) are there?

I think about any of the other brands recommended for other brands of tractors would probably be fine, ie. Kubota SUDT for example. Some of the guys have used the Tractor supply Traveler premium fluid and report no problems. I decided to just use the Exon Mobile Mobilefluid 424. The Shell donax is now called Spirex. It us up to you to choose, but I have heard some members report issues with using some of the cheaper fluids especially with tractor equipped with Hydrostatic transmissions. Some users report more sluggish operation and more whine noise from the transmissions. I think premium fluids give premium performance, but that is just me.:)

would the shell spirex be considered economy?

RE: Shell Spirex (formally Donax)
I don't think so.. I believe it to be a premium fluid.

I looked on line and it's expensive. $70-90/5 gal. I wonder if Rotella would suffice. I won't have to worry for awhile. But what to use for top-up?

The Spirax isn't the economy. Here's a list of other oils and capacities that had been posted by another member.

I think this statement is the key:

Multi-grade
transmission fluid
rated for
differentials, final
drives, wet brakes,
and hydraulic
systems enclosed in
a common reservoir

It seems like I paid about $216 for 15 gallons for the MobilFluid 424 when I bought 15 gallons of it. But I cannot remember for sure.

Here is an online link, I bought mine locally.

BTW, a Kioti hat at their store is $6.50 - $7.50. Shipping is $8.00.:confused3:

I agree, and this is almost word for word, on the Traveller Premium UTF 5 gallon pail ($40.00). Buy 2, and most of us have enough for the transmission, plus enough left over to do the front axle a couple of times....Hill Billy Bob
