Killing weeds in garden

This is what we do. No glossy ads. Several layers thick.

Why no glossy ads?? I'm just curious.

We use landscape fabric. After we till in the spring, we cover the whole area with landscape fabric. Then when we put our plants out, we just cut out a small x. No weeding all yearl. It lasts all season, and usually through the winter until the next year to make for easy tilling.

I like a product called Preen. Put down before weeds. Makes your tomato plants look great.

I forgot all about Preen. Duh on my part.
This is a great idea and we use Preen wherever we can. We concentrate a few inches on each side of the plant and then rototill down the center of the row for weed control. It doesn't help with existing weeds but stops the seeds from germinating. Quick and easy partial solution.

I like my garden to stay organic, so no Roundup etc. don't even like the inks and bleaches in paper or cardboard. It's sometimes a bit hard to control where the heat goes, but I use a propane tank with a tiger-torch. Heat each unwanted plant for a couple seconds and it will wither and die.
Works great in the gravel paths and driveway as well. Maybe not the fastest way to do it, but there is also great satisfaction in using a flame-thrower against the enemy.

I didn't think about the torch. I've got one. Might have to try that too.
