I don't know which is worst this Year,Wood-ticks or Mosquitoes We pulled 10 Wood-ticks off our Dog Yesterday and this Morning after a storm moved through you couldn't go outside without without being attacked by swarms of Mosquito's.I don't remember them being this bad. this guy my Wife works with said he was walking in the Woods afterwards pulled lots of ticks,he said his Leg was full of them.

And you don't want to. I was assuming possibly lyme disease from the above poster. Deer tick, imagine a period with legs. Tiny almost impossible to see, until it is too late. People used to think that a 14 day course of antibiotics would fix it. Possible that the original thinking may have just put it into hybernation, to come back an haunt you years from now. Recent reports claim it likes to live in area like the liver, and brain, and form cyst, which makes it very hard to treat. Just seen a report of a minister that was diagnosed in 2011, and still has to take 3200 milligrams of antibiotics daily.

We are in the tick season too. We do "tick checks" daily on us and the dog. We have a small plastic bottle with a small amount of rubbing alcohol in it to put them in. About the time we start burning firewood, we dump it and get another next Spring. West Nile virus is in the area too this year (dead crows).

put a bug zapper up today hopefully that will take care of some of the flying critters.

If you live in the country, walk though tall grass, have dogs and horses, or mow where you brush up against trees you are going to have a tick bottle in your house as part of your summer regimen. Neighbor has guineas. They say guineas are good for ticks. The guineas make so much racket that I would prefer the ticks. Bug zappers only kill good bugs.

We have seen quite a few ticks at our lake house in east Tn but the skeeters are way down in part cause we removed all the leaf litter on the entire 2 ac lot and it dry. Now I have poision ivy growing around the house everywhere.

Ohio has been nice now it has warmed up finally not too many bugs of any kind

I don't know how the Animals can stand it with all the Mosquitoes.

My wife was giving one of my boys a bath just yesterday and found a small deer tick (likely a nymph) on the crack of his rear end, you can never be too careful. It wasn't filled with blood yet, must have just attached. I always do tick checks

When we used to have horses they spent more time in the barn in the spring/summer than any other time of year. We had one mare that would absolute lose her sh t over the deer and horse flies.

I have to pull off a couple of crawling ticks every time I go for a walk in the woods. Spray your shoes, socks, and pant legs so they drop off as soon as they hop on. If it hasn't bitten, you're okay. If it bites but isn't engorged with blood yet, you're probably okay. If it's engorged with blood, then in NH you have a 30% chance of it having Lyme, and a 30% change of contracting it from that tick. About a 10% change overall.
