I will picking up my dk5o from the dealer in a week. My first project is a pole barn. It calls for 18" holes 4ft deep. I was looking a the ETA auger. It says the bit length is 48". Will it dig to a depth of 4 ft on the back of the dk50. Thanks

My 3pt PHD will not dig to full depth just because of the geometry of the machine. I don't know how short it comes, but there is at least 9-12" or so between the bottom of the gearbox and the ground when I go to full depth. You would need an auger in the 60" of so auger to make it to 48" depth.

I spoke with you when you called earlier. I did find a couple of videos on youtube featuring our ETA Post Hole Diggers in use by customers.

This one shows the 6900HD PHD with an 18" auger, but he doesn't go deep:

This one, on the other hand, looks to get the full 48" in the ground. It is also an ETA 6900HD:

Wow!! Talk about lack of safety.
The tractor operator apparently has no concern for his friend manhandling the auger boom pole while he jerked it up and down to clear the dirt. The friend was lucky he didn't lose his footing and get wound up on the spinning PTO shaft.

I agree. PHDs can be extremely dangerous and should be used only with extreme caution.

If the lift arms are in their longest, lowest hole, and the top is put in the top hole the PHD gearbox should lower down into the ground. I see more problem with lifting it high enough to clear the ground when transporting on a 4 foot auger.
