I had replaced the couplers at both ends so the bushings are in good shape. I just had the drive train off and I inspected those bushings. The old ones were all worn out so I had replaced them. By the way the drive shaft seems to be moving up and down at the engine just seems something is off center somehow, I just don't know how. I'll probably have to take the drive shaft off again and see what gives with the drive cup. I have no idea how that could not be centered unless the bolt has come loose and I have a bunch of wobble in the cup but I sure didn't notice that when I took off the coupler with the bushing. If there is a set procedure to set the engine and align the driveshaft, I'd like to know it. I'm about to buy an 1810 service manual but I'm not sure how good it is and whether it's worth the money. Anybody have a CC service manual and how good are they?

Just some thoughts - is it possible that the driveline couplings are "out of sync" or you have swapped the engine flange to the hydro flange?

The rubber flanges should be the same and I would think the steel ones would be too, but from what you are indicagting something is out of line so I would install all the units loose the n see the oscillation in the shaft and go from that point.

Your analysis so far has identified the problem now its a matter of finding a solution.

I didn't delete you post. Postings had gone to a 2nd page so sorry for the confusion. I will take your advice and start over on the drive shaft. On the last go around, when I connected up the drive shaft, I did just that. I tightened up the bolts gradually at both ends, alternating front/rear and it still ending up moving at the front. I'll have to pull it off again and check the drive cup.

If the bolts holding the wheel to the axle have broken off there are different options available. Remove any remaining bolts holding the wheel. If there is enough of the bolt sticking out from the axle flange you can try gripping it with vice grip pliers after spraying liquid wrench on the threads. The second option is to get an EZOUT which requires drilling a hole through the bolt center and threading the EZOUT into the hole. It has a reverse spiral that digs into the metal and with a wrench can backout a broken bolt. If all else fails the bolt(s) has to be drilled out and a tap used to rethread the hole.
