Baby on the way

If you have family or friends that works at the local hospital have them check and see if they can order diaper for you and how much they are per diaper. Some will let you some won't. But we found out they buy name brand cheap. But you don't have brand choices and they are big boxes but can help.

We also found out formula will cost you more than diapers. Especially if the baby has to have a special formula. Let mama feed the baby as long as she can or wants to. It's a hassle sometimes but my wife loved it as that was something only she could do for the baby. And it lets dad sleep

They are crazy out of sight, of course you could do what my generation did, washables!! 2 things that turn my stomach though, baby pooh, vomit, so disposables are like "set it and forget it"

Friends of ours are going to do washable diapers. They said there is liners that can be thrown away to make it easier but I'm like you and don't like the sound of it.

We've been getting diapers from Amazon on auto-delivery. Really works out well. And look into getting a diaper genie for disposal. Also have refills for that on auto delivery. Basically, anything at makes the process easier is money well spent.

I'll have to check out Amazon, sounds like a good option. I have to admit that I thought the diaper genie was a joke so I looked it up and it looks like a great idea.

I have a cousin that works in the ER, I'll have to check with him. My wife plans on feeding as long as she can so hopefully that will cut down on formula.

Yep, no point having "flashbacks" every time you have a bowl of oatmeal or spaghettio's down the road!!:D

Congratulations. Like others we also get diapers from Amazon with subscribe and save. It is a little cheaper and more convenient than chasing sales at the stores. The trick is finding what diapers work the best before you start getting them shipped in quantity to your house. We have had good luck with Huggies natural fit for all our kids. The seem to contain the best through the whole size progression from newborn to size 6.

As far as disposal we reuse the plastic grocery bags for the muddy diapers. Tie a quick knot and drop it in the regular trash can. Our trash can has a foot operated lid, and people get over-dramatic about how stinky baby poop is. Nursing seems to help improve this area also. Sure you get an occasional stinker, but most aren't bad. Diapers absorb pee so well now that you won't smell wet ones if you just toss them in the trash can.

Don't sweat the tests, expect them to check your wife and baby for a few different things over the course of a pregnancy. Its routine for them to want to know if there is anything outside of the normal. They're just doing their job.

We just had our 8th child less than 2 weeks ago. Some of the best days of my life have been front row in the delivery room and cutting the cord. Its a great experience. I think 32 is a great stating age. Heck come to think of it my wife and I got married 4 days before my 32nd birthday.

Haven't looked at diapers yet and didn't realize they were that expensive. What a terrible thing to spend a lot of money on, lol.

No kidding!! I constantly gripe about it. It's amazing how much more we seem to spend on diapers with my son than we did three years ago with my daughter. I don't know if the price has gone up that much, or if he just pees more. Luckily my daughter took right to potty training and was done with diapers much earlier than the kids of many of our friends/family. I hope my son does the same. I hate buying those darn things!

Thanks. Eight kids, you are a pro by now at all this stuff. I was a little worried about waiting till now to have kids as some people have said it is pushing the age limit but it's reassuring to hear otherwise.

We just had the sonogram (sp ?) to find out the sex of the baby. It's a girl! Honestly I was hoping for a boy so we could do tractor stuff together later but a girl is fine too.

Girls are not only fine, but they are wonderful.

Don't rule out doing tractor stuff with girls. Our 14 month old girl is as sweet as can be, but also curious and very interested in helping me with projects. She's in love with my tractor, so I just ordered her a tractor toy. I'm sure my wife will do plenty of girly-girly stuff with her, but I fully plan to turn her into my outdoorsy fishing/hiking/skiing and home project buddy (I need one).
