Yeah but the idea would work for other people just not me. The metal sheds were like the Carolina sheds the guy posted before and they can make the doors whatever size you want. It would cost double to build that with wood.

Why not look at Shelterlogic? I have one and it is about 27' long with a 10'? zippered door. It's made of heavy duty plastic/canvas like material , and as long as you get the round roof top style it sheds snow great. I've had it for about 4 years here in VT where the snow loads are WAY worse than in CT.
Go to: shelterlogic.com They're based in CT and having a scratch/dent sale this Saturday too.
Here is just one example of a heavy duty garage unit: Wind and Snow Rated Shelters - ShelterTube:ShelterLogic

Does your town restrict this type of shelter too?!:confused2: If so, maybe time to move?:confused3:

No temporary shelters are fine. Had one for other toys and sold it for close to what I paid. But it's hard to go from garage to temporary shelter. But yes a thought.

Better a shelter than no structure at all, yes? I did mine with a crushed stone bed, PT 4 x 4 perimeter with rebar for anchoring the metal frame to and some 2 x 4 plates screwed to the 4 x 4's with large bronze coated star drive screws for rigidity. The unit has held up very well, and serves it's purpose.

Sounds like my MF. Bought the tractor/loader/mower/tiller.
-Needed a diesel can as all I had were kero and gas, and the kero was on loan to a friend.
-Needed some chain hooks for lifting, bought them off Amazon.
-Spent a few days pricing out 3/8" chain before getting a 14' length at Lowes for $30. Got home and realized I had smaller chain that works perfectly for the 600lb lift capacity of the GC2600, haven't touched the new chain yet.
-needed a BB/carry-all for FEL work. Figured no problem! I have spare angle from bed frames laying around, make one for free! Needed 2 $30 4x8 sheets of plywood, and 5 or 6 cans of spray on bed liner at $7.50/can.
-need lift pins and top link pin for BB/carry all. Got the wrong size the first time, second trip to TSC with original pin from tiller to match up.
-lost a ring and pin off mower guide wheel, bought 4 more at TSC with cotter pins. Got home, wrong size cotter pin. Returned them with the top link pin, got snap ring type pins this time.
-TSC had a 5x10 trailer on sale, $300 off, $1000 total. Figured it would be enough for me. Turns out I need to widen the last 3ft of side rail about 2" on both sides to give more than 1/2" clearance for the tiller. Also need to extend the tongue for a bucket rest and have room to turn without the truck hitting the bucket. (still cheaper than a different trailer, but more work involved) I should have looked into this some more, but I had 3 jobs/projects lined up for memorial day weekend so I was in a hurry.
-Wife hates seeing every new idea I see on here....

I thought I had the tractor/8X16 trailer storage problem solved. I can get one of those metal sheds 12X21 for $3600. Put two eight foot ,maybe nine foot wide doors on each end. Put the trailer in there and park the tractor on top of the trailer. When I need the tractor at the house back it out the back door. When I need the trailer and tractor hook it up to the truck at front door and pull it out. Store implements that are not on the machine in the existing shed or maybe on the side of the metal shed. Not perfect but storage problem solved for $3600. I didn't get to how high I would need the doors because I called the town. A shed can't be bigger than 10X12. Not even big enough for the tractor. Plus I already have one. I have to have a workshop which can be 12X21. The problem is the door can't be bigger than 6 feet. I can't even get the tractor with the mower attached unless I lift up the deflector forget about trailer in there. In my town they will make you tear stuff down. So have to look at detached garage which is a nightmare with the town and a **** of a lot more money than $3600. For now the tractor is where it should be in the wifes bay of the garage.
That is why I bought my place out in the country. I can build anything I want, including my house without asking anyone's permission. I hated living in a restricted community where I couldn't even park my boat in the driveway to wash it down and let it dry without getting a summons in the mail. And our monthly fees paid for the idiots to patrol the area and look for "violations". I once needed to replace my fence after hurricane blew down some sections, called and asked about the specs, all I got was that it was in the deed restrictions which I found online.
I built the fence exactly by the spec, WOOD< 6 ft high+6" rot board at bottom. After I got it built, I got a notice that I hadn't applied for a permit. I told them to kiss my $$$ and I would see them in court if they sent any more notices. I quickly got an apology and said no need to go to court, the fence is fine. Dam stupid %^&* idiot $$%%^ not worth the hassle.
Another time, I repainted my old garage door, nice blue to match the house with white squares. A few months later the panels shrunk a bit and left about a 1/8" line around the perimeter that was unpainted. Got a letter that I needed to replace my "rotting" garage door. All the while the neighbor down the street had their garage door falling off the tracts and just hanging in pieces and they never fixed it. I did replace my 25 year old wooden door with a new aluminum door to make it easier to open but not because they HOA said I had too. It was becoming an upkeep problem being wood and so old.
I still hate those HOA guys who make rules to suit a few of the residents with no idea about what is sufficient, like your 10x12 shed. What the heck is that, a lawnmower shed or a 12x21 SHOP with a 6 foot door, what's up with the door size. What the heck can you do in a 12 foot wide shop. Mine is 30x30 enclosed with 12 foot open shed wings on each side and barely large enough. Our farm neighbors are all pretty well kept and most are so far off the road that you rarely can see their houses except in winter. NO WAY WOULD I LIVE IN YOUR TOWN and pay their higher tax rate for the honor as well.

I forgot to mention one time they said we "Need to weed your flower bed, tall weeds growing in it" We had to send photos of the "weeds" in bloom and tell them the weeds were MUMS. More idiots drawing a salary to harass the residents.
